It said printer unable to communicate etc etc so uninstalled and reinstalled printer ....but same problem...prints a blank page!!

Any experts before I blow money on a new printer???????

How come it prints a blank page if it's unable to communicate with the printer?

Check the cable connections I suppose, and also check for updated printer drivers - that would be my suggestion.

Up until 2 days ago, my old printer was a Lexmark (Lexmark 3200).

The lexmark ink cartridges are just about the most expensive going ...

The colour cartridge has all 3 colours in one unit. The print head is part of the cartridge. All this makes for a waste of money ...

I've not abandoned my Lexy and have a brand new lovely Canon.

A Canon Pixma iP4000 (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=6793031630&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=73080) to be exact !!!

Ohhh how nice it is ... and how cheap the ink carts are ... like less than £2 for compatibles and the genuine canon ones are like £5.

The colour carts come in individual tanks for each colour (yellow, magenta, cyan) so you only need to replace what you use.

The print head is seperate to the cart.

The quality is amazing too (check out the reviews on that ebuyer link).

Lexmark printers belong in the bin.

Also check out the Canon Pixma iP3000 (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=73085).

my dad once bought me a lexmark printer in the sale then when he got it home realised how expensive the cartridges were! he took it back the next day! its rediculous u can buy a new printer for the cost of a cartridge!

The same thing happened with my canon one it just kept printing blank pages, got the heads replaced n its fine now

had an inkjet, but moved across to laser. Never looked back.
Cheaper, faster and better quality.

Have you tried a different cable to connect the printer & PC?

The actual wires inside the outer sheathing can break.

Ive been having probs with my lexmark since i got it. cant connect, not spooling blah blah. follow all instructions. waste of time and money. thanks for the Cannon feedback. will check it out. loads of people have told me lex printers are cheap and the carts are expensive but unfortunately i was a PC newbie when i bought it nearly 3 years ago. Im gonna sell mine on ebay for a quid! i bet no one bids though!!
