Had my appeal yesterday to try to get my son into primary school, what a nightmare:o
I'm so upset because I think I've messed it up and I think the whole thing was geared up to make me feel uncomfortable and unable to put my points accross.
Has anyone else experienced this?

The story behind my appeal is this......
My daughter has attented the school since 2001 and leaves this yr for secondary, my son starts after xmas.
We are no longer in the catchment for the school, but the lady who cares for all 3 of our children lives opposite the school itself. She has taken and collected my daughter for 5 yrs and taken care of my two smaller ones during the day whilst my partner and I work full time.
Our son cannot be classed as having a sibling at the school because she leaves 6 months before he starts!!!
I have since found out that there is a handful of children actually in the catchment and with siblings and the majority of the allocated children are out of catchment.
I did not expect that our son would be given a sibling place but thought that as we had a strong relationship with the school that it would be taken into consideration when they allocated the remaining places, not the case!
It's as if we have never been at the school.
I asked this at the appeal and was told as soon as a child leaves the slate is wiped clean, which I think is slightly unfair.
I had to endure an appeal with the head of the school (who I still have to see every day, and who knows our family and situation) bascically shooting me down with every comment I made. Which I think is totally unfair.

We didn't get any of our 3 preferred schools (which were all chosen so that someone could collect our kids) and so if our appeal isn't succesfull I'm going to have to change to part time so I can take and collect him. I'm in bits beacuse if the happens we'll only just be able to pay our mtg!!!

I'm so sorry for ranting, and I know there's nothing else I can do now but it feels better to get it off my chest x:sad::sad:

Have you tried talking to your local councillor? Maybe he/she may be able to help.
