It's not being sold. It's just closing. You can ring Nikki though if you want to ask anything. Nikki is a lady by the way.

Closing as in closing down, never to reopen? Or closing for a summer holiday or something? :(

Unfortunately it's closing for ever. It's a shame.

I'd be curious to know why. I've not been but it seemed to have a good rep.

Your quote says it all really...... which is why it is such a shame.

Aww, that's really bad. Wish Nikki well - if I'd known sooner, I'd have booked a final trip.

Its a shame. I have to say the last time a friend and I were looking for somewhere for a cosy evening meal we had a look in at Kumquat Mae and it was totally empty.

Maybe the large number of competitors along London Rd has something to do with it.

Thanks for your comments so far people. I will let Nikki know when I see her this weekend. I'm sure many people had some good times at Kumquat Mae...... I have been late for work many a time after a night there. :hihi:

Very sad. Possibly my favourite Sheff restaurant.

We`ve booked a `last supper` there. :(

Has vegetarianism gone out of fashion?!?!

Went there for my 24th birthday this year, wouldn't have even thought about it (very fussy eater!) if it hadn't been for my lactose intolerant friend recommending it. It was really good, and coming from me about a vegan restaurant, that's impressive! Best wishes to Nikki for her future plans!

Had a lovely meal there last night. All our food was excellent and it`ll be a big loss. :(

My sister-in-law said she had the best meal out there she'd had in this country.

What a shame, but thanks so much for all the lovely nosh!

Maybe tastes are changing and restaurants are providing decent vegetarian options meaning that the demand for a restaurant which only satisfies one taste is limited.

It's also possibly at the 'wrong' end of London Road. In fact it's not even on London Road but Abbeydale Road.

I went at the weekend and spoke to Nikki - I think some people are interested in taking over the restaurant. I don't know if it is still going to be veggie but I will let you know when I hear anymore.

I'm suprised so many people on here think it's so amazing; the last time I went there were no customers and a member of staff was sat at one of the tables sleeping. :/

Meh, the food was okay... not so amazing that I'm especially sad it's closing, but I suppose it's bad if there are fewer vegetarian/vegan restruants in Sheffield.

I've been a few times, on forum meet nights.

I thought the food was excellent, and would have liked to have eaten there more often.

It's okay bemoaning the fact that the restaurant was empty, but not all of us can afford to treat ourselves to a meal out as frequently as we'd like to. (whatever the prices in a venue)

Oh no. I wished I read this before it closed, I would've gone for a last meal.

I loved this place and all the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Such a shame :(

I also loved it the several times I went there, and also the fabbie name!

I wished I'd seen this before, I'd definitely have tried to rustle up a few forummers for a 'last meal'.

I'm so sorry you're going and thanks for the memories! x
