Scam, scam, scam. If you've got £3 to throw away, go for it. I wouldn't expect the promised £thousands to roll in for quite some time though.

it sounds like the thing that used to come thru my letter box, send a pound to each of the five names on the list then send the same list but substitute the last name for your own to as many people as you could ( 100 at least) which they in turn were supposed to do hence you getting lots of pounds back.

we did it with knickers at the shop where i used to work, we all sent letters off and substituted our name at the bottom of the list and just sent one pair of knickers to the first name on the letter, i got 6 pairs of knickers back for the price of a £1.99 thong from George at Asda, but suppose it'd be different for money :P

I can't believe people are still falling for pyramid schemes (http://www.pyramidschemealert.org/), I mean it's not as if they're the most common & obviously stupid scam in the world, is it? Oh actually, yes they are. And they've now hit the Paypal generation. Contact Trading Standards, they are illegal in this country, despite what they may say about "fees to join your mailing list". Oh puh-leeese.

i know what you are saying steev, and so will many others .. but there are still some people that have never come across this sort of thing, its a shame but there you have it. so its good that folks actually post their findings to warn others about them :)

But as evil moderator Joe who rarely gets complimented....I do tell folks to keep it on topic. :D

And it is a nasty scam that shpouldn't be encouraged because it just adds to teh piles of spam that get sent!

Flattered as I am by Litha's comments, (DaB; we'll talk later! :| ), please keep on topic!

no it shouldnt be encouraged at all, and its not just the fact that it causes more spam either , it is not fair and i know there are many people who will fall for this, perhaps people with very little money as it is hoping they will make the big time or at least be able to pay the bills etc.. i can not beleive ebay have a loop hole letting this sort of thing in :(

lol, y do u think that you need to pay £3 to be part of it. All I did was copy what it said and substituted the name on the bottom for my own, but didnt pay.
Surprisingly, I didnt get a penny, but it was a waste of half an hours work;)
But I didnt waste my time putting it on eBay as it is rather annoying

Here's a good scam that you & 29 friends (or fellow forrummers) can do with no risk:

First, 30 people each with £1000 spare form a syndicate.
Purchase the maximum Premium Bond allowance in 6 x £5000 blocks.
Sit back & wait.
Give it a year.
If you've won nowt you can agree to fold & get your £1000 back.
If (when) you win, split the winnings 30 ways or, if it's another big amount, buy another load in £5k blocks in the next persons name & so on...

Now, Don's been watching the nsadi website for a year now
& have seen a massive proportion of winners are dropping big prizes with block purchaces of £5000 or multiples of...

See the evidence yourself:
http://www.nsandi.com/products/pb/winnerlist.jsp

click on any month & review the winners list.
Print it off & highlight the £5k blocks.
