How was the Alpe d'Huex climb and how much faster was the descent afterwards? :D

Despite been 14.5km long and a average gradient of 8%, the climb up Alpe d'Huez wasnt as hard as i was expecting it to be. Although on the descent you suddenly do realise how steep the climb is.

Maybe you should have ridden for a 100km first at speed and then raced each other to top. Then it would be a bit harder. :P

Looks like a great trip. Never been up Alp d'Huez but the pics remind me of my club trips to Mallorca - 5 years on the trot in the late 90s. There's little to beat the view when collapsed over the handlebars at the top of some gre't 'ill - especially when you can see the rest of the club still struggling up! :cool:

Took us 9 days with 1600km of cycling and 2 mountain ranges to cross to get from Calais to Nice.

That's not exactly a slacker's rate!
I'm surprised you had time to take any shots.
