The City Hall has been cleaned, it's starting to look nice again, the Contractors have just removed the fencing round it and some braindead morons have already written their tags on the wall. About 5 so far that I can see on the one side.

I hope to se one of them and I may be forced to borrow his marker pen and tag him in the face a few times!

Anyone do this or know who does? Give them a slap from me.

Thought CCTV was installed in the city centre, would've thought they could catch these cretins on camera and sort 'em out.

What I find amusing is that the quality of graffiti in Sheffield is so poor! In other cities (New York, London etc), it seems they are a lot better at it.

Before anyone has a go, I realise that most people on here are against all graffiti. I just believe that sometimes it has merit, if there is some artistic content.

However, I think the people that do it in Sheffield are just showing off that they have learned to write. Maybe most of their mates can't.

All the tagging/graffiti I have seen round Nether Edge and on Broadfield Road is SO bad, I can only hope that the people doing it are using false names to save their embarassment.

A few years ago my youngest daughter who was 4 at the time noticed some graffti - the word **** was on a wall - she said "look at that Mum - they have spelt it wrong"!!

I didn't know wether to proud of her spelling ability or angry that she should know how to spell it!!

Graffiti is like the stripes on a wasp, it tells you how dangerous an area is.
Graffiti has been going on for years, I think they used to call it "cave drawings"

While there are arguments for and against this 'art form', tagging listed buildings is just wrong. It's not like other buildings / walls where it can be easily painted over or sandblasted, and the fact that it's the city hall just makes sheffield look like a bad place to visit.

This subject has been talked about many times in the past and as it seems to be appearing everywhere and for the most part is of an extremely poor standard i would like to offer a possible solution. What I would like to see are these vandals in ball and chains and cleaning their 'work' off the walls preferably with a toothbrush!
