hi
my partner and i are on a quest to lose weight and get fit, up to now we have lost almost 6 stone between us and i am now thinking that walking would help us towards getting fit. i am 48 and oh is 54, would the walks you go on be suitable for us please as we would love to join you, and im sure our dog would love it too. i have just looked at some of the pics on here and some of the scenes look breathtaking and you all look like you are enjoying yourselves.

First of all I can vouch for walking regularly as an excellent way of both keeping fit and keeping your weight under control. In January 2007 I made a New Years resolution and started walking regurlarly - the fitness came back quite quickly and I lost about 3 stone in the first year and it's stayed off without having to bother too much about what I eat and drink which is a double bonus.
More importantly, since last April I started walking with this group and can say that they are a friendly and welcoming group of people and I now have lots of new friends into the bargain.
Can I suggest that you look at the thread and try this Sunday's walk from Bradfield which is 5.5 miles and easy going. If you need any more information just PM me and I'll try to answer any questions.

What an absolutely fantastic achievement! And I bet you now feel so much better for it, and are up for a challenge now aren't you?
My advice would be to go for it, you'll be surprised how easy it is to do the 5.5 mile walk that Neoteric has told you about, and before you know it you're doing 8 miles+ in the Derbyshire hills no problem! And getting the benefit of gaining a whole new group of friends in the bargain at the same time.
Sorry to say that I didn't lose 3 stones as Neoteric did when I joined the Group, despite the regular exercise. I bucked the trend and actually gained a few stones! She's absolutely lovely though, and I wouldn't be without her :D
