Most childminders offer this early morning service you are after.:) Also, check out this website for more info. http://www.childcarelink.gov.uk/whitebox/mapsearch.asp?cisid=5124&mapid=453 Don't forget that all childminders are ofsted registered, so you can check them out on that website, just ask the childminder for their ofsted number. Good luck:) ladyB 23-06-2008, 20:22 Thanks guys.. that childcare link v v helpful. cheers x x x-GiGgLeS-x 24-06-2008, 06:14 I live in S6 and I am always up with my 5 month old from 6am so i'd be willing to help if you need me to. Just send me a PM Hi Giggles As the younger child is only 7 you would need to be a registered childminder to offer this service. lawson1082 24-06-2008, 12:27 Hi Giggles As the younger child is only 7 you would need to be a registered childminder to offer this service. if you are helping someone out you dont have to be x-GiGgLeS-x 24-06-2008, 16:25 Hi Giggles As the younger child is only 7 you would need to be a registered childminder to offer this service. You don't have to be when your just helping someone out, But i have various certificates and training including Child Protection, Child awareness, Youth Work etc.. x-GiGgLeS-x 24-06-2008, 16:26 Oh and I used to work for a childs charity :) hennypenny 24-06-2008, 17:36 Sorry, I hadn't realised you were offering to do this for someone you don't know completely free of charge:rolleyes: If you look after a child under 8 for two or more hours per day for reward (either money or in kind), you have to be a registered childminder Bonny 24-06-2008, 23:36 ... If you look after a child under 8 for two or more hours per day for reward (either money or in kind), you have to be a registered childminder I wasn't aware of this hennypenny. Can you post or PM me a link so I can check for more information? Thanks if you can, if not, just point me in the right direction :) hennypenny 25-06-2008, 07:07 Hi Bonny There is a bit about it on this page, but if you google registered childminder you should find more. http://childmindinghelp.co.uk/becomingaregiste.html and more here http://www.parentscentre.gov.uk/familymatters/childcare/registeredchildmindersandapprovedchildcarers/ If I were a parent looking for childcare I would only ever go to a registered childminder because they have to have CRB's, insurance and are trained and inspected. They also often work in networks and so can sometimes offer alternative care from another network childminder during their holidays and in case of sickness. In Hillsborough there is a childminding co-operative called the Little Sixers who should be able to help the OP as they hold a list of childminder vacancies in Sheffield 6. The children's information service should have the contact details. x-GiGgLeS-x 25-06-2008, 08:10 I have got the application to apply to be a childminder and ive been on a 2 day taster session thing so far. I am wanting to do it but it cost quite abit to get started. ladyB 25-06-2008, 19:51 Thank you GiGgLes for your very kind offer however, like the other post pointed out, I would rather go with a reg childminder, not suggesting that you couldn't do it of course, I would just feel more comfortable..also you would need the insurance, my son is lovely but very clumsy!!! LOL. Bonny 26-06-2008, 17:40 Thanks for the links Hennypenny  Zebra 26-06-2008, 19:09 I have got the application to apply to be a childminder and ive been on a 2 day taster session thing so far. I am wanting to do it but it cost quite abit to get started. It doesn't have to. My course was low cost and some areas do start up grants to pay for registration, insurance and any Ofsted required changes or equipment. The CRB check is an expense unless you can get it through an umbrella organisation. Apparently a lot of people are being put off by the early years education part which Ofsted are bringing into force. I was, but I've just found out I can do that free in my area too , hurrah! I've just found out I can get all that and they'll pay for my degree as well :D |
