I havnt seen many of the lower league games, mostly premiership matches and championship.
I still have to say that I think Jon Harleys goal against Aston Villa i think is up there as technically a great goal.
More recently though Ronaldos free kick vs Portsmouth is one of the most impressive I have seen.
Henrys flick up and volley in his arsenal days.

this debate could go on for hours....
PS, i dont rate Petrovs goal, impressive distance but i bet most players could pull that off

Personally, I don't think much to Ronaldo's goal.
If it was Joey Bacon of SomewhereLowerDownTheLeague United you'd never have heard anything about it.
But because it's Golden Boy himself playing for Man U, we're all supposed to go beserk over it. (Well, at least Clive Tyldesly is.)
We need more links to goals before we can decide and then there's the argument as to whether a dead-ball goal (say from a free kick) is any better than a goal created from a million passes.

Dead-ball goals never impress me that much, because they only go in once in every large number of attempts; it's just that on the odd flukey occasion they actually do go in, everyone forgets about how many times it's gone over the bar, wide, or been easily saved, and raves about what a brilliant kick it is... if it was really that brilliant, rather than just lucky, then it'd go in the net more often.

A valid point.
It's also like fans who bemoan their team's luck (or lack of) by way of saying 'Yes, but we hit the cross-bar three times and the post once.'
That, in effect is four misses. If you hit the woodwork then you've failed to hit the target!

Forget the premier league, what was this bloke thinking of to even try this.
