Whats your fav place in sheffield- either in the city centre or around the city limits?

when i was a student, around exam/coursework deadline time, which always was hot days (grrrr) we used to take time out and sit in the botanical gardens for an hour or two to de-stress. Ever since then it has reminded me of nice, calm times and having a laugh with my uni mates, most of whom have left Sheffield and i don't see everyday any more.

Happy memories and thats why i love it!!

A stone's throw away from where I live there are Redmires Dams. It's such a quiet, calm, beautiful place where you feel as though you're almost touching the sky. Indeed, I once wrote some lyrics about the place: 'High above the world - High above reality?' To me it's almost another world, away from the noise, stress and worries of this world. Any time of year, it's wonderful.

And as an added bonus, I could always walk up there on a summer's evening - if only I can get past the Sportsman and Three Merry Lads pubs, the latter of which you can sit out the back, enjoy a Stella or seven and take in the marvellous views over Rivelin and beyond.

Depends what mood I'm in really. I love places like the arches. But if I want time to reflect, I cycle out somewhere in the peaks. Can't give any specifics, but that was half the point; not having a clue where I am.

My house - I just love spending time there pottering around in the garden and doing not much. It is the first place to really feel like home. I never feel as calm or relaxed anywhere else.

errm it changes everytime i go back so i dont know whats still there

it used to be the peace gardens and fountain on fargate cos i used to get ****** there :)

or the pubs/clubs i used to frequent

shop wise i still love to visit jacks records when i get back to sheff but i hear its moved, rare and racys also dep in my heart....lol

For me it has to be whitley woods. Very quiet with the path running along the river. You can feel totally away from it all, but still be so close to the city.

Second choice has to be a pub. My favourite is the Broomhill tavern. Local feel, get a real mixture of people and not too studenty. And their food is rather good too.

I used to like Forge Dam when I was younger. But now, there's no place like home!!

But if your not at home then you might as well be down the pub so The Commercial on Station Road in Chapeltown :thumbsup:

And if you can't drink then you might as well go bowling at Hollywood Bowl :thumbsup:

My fav place in sheffield has to be NICHE NIGHTCLUB

The place is wicked and the tunes are phat :thumbsup:

My Place. Warm, cosy and I can shut the door on the world whenever I want to.

Norfolk Heritage Park. An oasis of tranquility with some of the finest views of the city centre.

I really like the seated area in the car park of the Fat Cat pub in Alma St.

Sounds weird, eh?

But if you block out the sound of traffic and planes overhead and squint a bit you can imagine what Sheffield was like at its industrial prime with the Bessemer converter, the old factories and the Don trickling past.

Or, if that doesn't work, have a few of the Fat Cat's more potent brews and then try again....

I really like Aunt Sallys pub near the hallamshire hospital.
The layout of the place just lets you look over the garden and make you feel like your in one of the most remote places in the city.
The Ridgeway arms and the Checkers Pub are also great for that kind of feeling.

My favourite Park is Endcliffe
My favourite bar is Nonnas and The strines
I like to go to The Botanical Gardens.
My desirable place to live would be Ranmoor.
I like to eat out and my all time favourite is La Romantica,on London Road..It has been for years.
My favourite garden is my own..but hopefully will soon have a new one in Crookes..

don't get back very often but when i do this is one of the highlights of my stay, catch up with with family, sisters, nieces, nephews and of course my gorgeous eldest son.

LIDL at Manor Top. A quiet oasis of Calm in an otherwise busy city. Cultured locals who are only too happy to stop and chat with you about science or local affairs. Above all a place for quality people to go for quality food.

Ahhh the price of the tinned tomatoes :thumbsup: and the cheese aint too bad either :D

Niche on Sydney Road. Amazin tunes, amazin atmosphere. The whole place just buzzes. Can't get enough ov it.

erm - sheffield city centre at 6am on a sunday morning!! Its brilliant being able to look at the city with no-one else around- kinda clears the mind!!!

In summer, it's my back garden, sat under my tree fern with a beer or 4, listening to the fountain, or having mates round for a BBQ and still being sat outside at 11pm.

I really like that one..

Screen 1 or 2 at the Showroom, or if the weather is a bit niceer there's a particularly nice bench I like to make my own in Graves Park.

Overall I guess you can make any space you're own special place if you put enough of yourself into it (wow, the hippy in me always seems to come to the fore)

My favourite place in Sheffield - so far - is Meersbrook Park. I can't believe it isn't world famous or something. When you walk into it from the top and that view just unfolds in front of you... it fair takes me breath away, I tell ya.

That's outdoors, anyway. Indoors it'd have to be the Sheaf View, the White Lion, the Broadfield... you get the idea... :)
