I admit, you have to take your hat off to the Blades.

An income of around £80M in the last couple of years and they managed to take 1 point off Wednesday last season. Wednesday who have been a complete shambles for the last 10 years and haven't got a pot to p**s in managed to humiliate United last season.

Although to be fair you did get your own back by throwing urine at the Owls fans (got to count our blessings at least it wasn't flares this time)

I wouldn't count your chickens just yet Solid, when the takeover goes through you'll realise you've missed the boat and no amount of free/cheap season tickets will see you remain as top dogs in the city.

(I know he was fishing but still.......)

Dont think we should say anything until the new season starts. Although i think everybodys money will be on us finishing above the owls again.

Some people seem to take this football thing a bit seriously. Worst economic recession in 40 years looming and you want to speculate on who finishes where in 2009. Too many variables. Bit like the economy really.

going to football helps take our minds of the worst economic recession in 40 years and also plenty of other things ie women, kids, work,

now who do you think will finish the highest in 2009.

yes, if the takeover hasnt happened you will have another fantastic season of finishing above wednesday, glad last season was such a success for you. however, if the takeover does happen when its supposed to, who knoows, you could regret this post.

We will finish above you even if the takeover happens;)
The Division just got a lot harder to get out of this season what with Birmingham and Reading coming down when anyone could have gone up last season, teams were trying to chuck it away.
At least the Blades will know how we stand right away with a tough match at brum.

Despite their farce of a season in the PL, I reckon Derby will be more of a force than the likes of Brum - whom I fully believe we will defeat on the opening day of the season - and Reading. Paul Jewell is a decent manager and Derby are, potentially a greater club than Wigan (well, who isn't?).

I think if the Blades get off to a good start then they've every chance of going up. The question as always though, is how patient the fans will be if they get off to a poor start?

As for Wendy, I see nothing but a tough season ahead, again and despite some comments on here there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel regarding a proposed buyer. The longer that situation remains, the more damaging it could be for the new season.

It will be a much tougher league than last season and the predictions of how each team should perform will be similar. But, the beauty of football is - and we Blades are only too well aware - it has a habit of kicking you in the teeth when you least expect it.

last season the fans were split over robson. fighting on the terraces amongst ourselves
car park demos etc.

we are now united again under blackwell. and i believe he will be given a good chance on his first full season.

This is the same Blackwell who transformed Leeds when he took over and got them to within one game of the Premiership, but then managed to turn them into relegation fodder the following season?

yep thats him. the same blackwell who was forced to sell leeds best players and play kids under captain birdseye. the same blackwell who was doing ok at luton till they went into administration and was forced to sell there best players. the same blackwell who took over a very down bramall lane under robson players lacking confidence fans fighting each other. and got us to within 1 game of the playoffs after just 3 months. think it's just wishful thinking on your part sunshine nothing else.

and on that bombshell.

say what you like bb, last season was blackwells honeymoon period, this coming season will be when he has to prove he has what it takes to take you up. after last season he should get you into the playoffs at the very least but you never know what could happen

i am not disagreeing. what i am saying is blackwell will be given a fair chance by 99% of blades. supporting united for 38 trophyless years as helped me to expect nothing.

Look on the bright side, if you'd been watching them for 83 years they'd still all have been trophyless.

Yes but Bladebloke would still have been supporting them unlike our little porcine chums in Sheffield 6 who can muster up 40,000 for Cardiff only for 20-21,000 of them to crawl back into the woodwork again when the going gets tough :hihi:

how many clubs can fill their ground? only really man utd, liverpool i think. even you dont get full capacity every game was around 27k you got at most games but i bet you would get over 40k at wembley, like most clubs. and where were your other 15k when you were struggling?

not too hard to understand bb. cb trys to use the old where are your fans now the goings tough, i was asking where were those 15k missing baldes when you were struggling. all clubs have stay away fans that come back when their team gets to wembley or something, be it wednesday or utd. if you look back at your attendances last season you got around 26k-27k fans to most games, that aint filling a 33k stadium

oh and bb, before you say did i go to cardiff, the answer is yes along with the other 15 home games that season;)

have you had a stupid tablet david. we averaged 25,000 last season 30,000 the year before.

NERVY-OWL
24-06-2008, 16:50
i didnt tell you what you averaged, i said you got around 26k-27k at alot of your games, i know you averaged out at 25k, there were obviously some games you got less at. its just funny how you slate us owls fans for not getting more fans when you were getting even less than us when times were bad for you and then as soon as you were making the playoffs and get in premiership, the missing fans come back. now until wednesday sort this takeover out and start running the club better then we will stay at 20k or less

no matey look back you said "every game was around 27k" i'm telling you we averaged 25,000 every game . if we were getting 27,k every game then the average would have been around 27k.
