Could anyone recommend a good detangler for cats. My cat is long haired and his fur gets very knotty along his belly and hind legs, I brush him often but he wont let you touch his under carriage.Thanks.

Plain Talker 20-06-2008, 20:32 you can get detangler spray from the pound shop, It's in a pump spray, so it doesn't have the "hiss" of an aerosol which can, and will, "freak" kittiecats out. W Wilkinson 20-06-2008, 21:31 Thanks I will have a look next time Im in there, rang pets at home they said they do one for just under £7, I thought christ Dick Turpins alive and well and running a pet shop. Gemima 23-06-2008, 07:29 Unfortuately detanglers only work alongside combing through, so dont waste your cash. There is only two solutions to this, either perservere with the combing,( use a metal tooth comb and chuck the brush out). Otherwise the knots will become mats and then you are faced with taking the cat to a vet or groomer for dematting, which is a lot more than £7.00. If you really cannot groom the underside, then a groomer can clip the belly for you every 8weeks or so that it cannot get long enough to become matted. |
