You'll be fine mate.
My lad is just coming up for 2 years old and it has gone sooooo fast!!
Just relax and enjoy it. You will never forgot the look on your partners face during birth and you will love her more for it, and you will cry the first time your new baby stares into your eyes. Just a natural reaction I am affraid!!

Be prepared for a lack of sleep and some interesting nappies and you will be fine.

I've just had my 5th child, and to be honest, I've felt scared (although excited too) every time so you're not being a wimp! The 1st time is fear of the unknown, any subsequent kids were (for me) Oh my god, how much am I gonna scream the ward down n show myself up! lol However, i can't have been TOO scared, or too bad, as I've kept on doing it over n over again :hihi: I'm sure you'll be fine, Good luck!

If you weren't just a little bit terrified I think it would show that you hadn't thought this through or understood quite what a huge life changing thing having a child is!

Of course it's daunting before it happens- your partner is going to go through one of the most physically challenging things her body will ever go through and you're both going to have a truly innocent and vulnerable baby for whom to provide. Whilst you may wish notionally for a child I'm not sure that you can ever be truly ready for that when it's the first time you've been through it (and I'm reliably informed that the force of the love that hits you is like being hit by a very warm, soft bus too).

I'm sure if you could separate the terror from the excitement you'd find that there's just as much excitement as there is anxiety.

Fingers crossed for a swift, safe and healthy delivery- you'll be fine.

EDIT- and now I'm sobbing again. Guess I'm still not over not being able to do this myself.

Liam, you're gonna be fine - all 3 of you. Yep, it's pretty scary and I really like Medusa's bus imagery, but I can promise (no matter how much it may annoy non-parents out there) that you will never have been involved in anything so amazing, so life-changing, so incredibly wonderful, ever ever ever.

You'll get more scared, you'll get more apprehensive, you'll have some dodgy moments...but you're on a one-way road at the moment, there's no stopping and no going back, and what you get at the end is so incredibly worth it that you'll forget all the trauma and drama and want to do it again and again.

Medusa, I am sending you the biggest, warmest hugs ever right now. I too am crying, I wish i could change things for you...we can share hankies, though :)

Awwww bless you all. Dint mean to make you all blubber. :hihi:

I know im gonna be an emotional wreck at the birth though as I only have to think about holding her for the first time and I get a lump in the throat. I just hope I hold it together enough to support mrs liam1412 through it. She's been so brave about it all. She just keeps saying "She's in there now, she has to come out one way or another". I think I'd go for the another option if it was me.

Lol, I had a c-section, not by choice, and while they were busy poking needles in my back very painfully(the guy doing it just kept getting it wrong), I stood up and said 'right, I've changed my mind, I'm not doing this. I'm leaving,' PMSL.

Whatever happens, you won't fall apart. She'll either be keeping you on your feet by calling you every name under the sun and threatening withdrawal of marital rights FOREVER because it's all your fault, or you'll be in an operating theatre holding her hand and a baby and wondering why on earth they have to jump up and down on her belly like that to get it all back inside and sewn up...
Keep your sense of humour, it will see you all right.

LOL. well she can be pretty vicious at the best of times so Im prepared for the insults and the beatings. I've had a prosthetic hand made up to pass her when the contractions come on so she can break that instead of mine. :hihi:

At the mo she is going with no meds at all apart from Gas and air although she is open to suggestions (and im suggesting for my sake as well as hers she has whatever they can bloody chuck at her).

:hihi::hihi:

I hope everything goes well for you sav. Now i've worked it out I think she has 6 weeks left (27th July) but we will be in Rotherham General anyway. I'm panicking about where she goes into labour as well. I don't drive so if I'm at work its gonna be a stressfull time getting there.

thanks :) and its 5 weeks on sunday yours is due:hihi:

as for her going for only gas and air its great stuff and thats all i had. I was going to have some pethadine (sp?) but by time they brought it to me i decided against it cause the midwife said it would slow things down a bit and she thought i would cope without.

I hope it all goes well and relativlely quick for you and mrs. i was just under 3 hours with my first :)

I think it's natural to be scared and excited at the same time, weird combo I think. As soon as your little princess makes an appearance you know all the horribleness of pregnancy and child birth has been more than worth it.

You'll look at her in wonderment that she was in side your mrs' belly and think wow we done that we made her a teeny tiny human being! lol It's amazing!
