I was wondering if anybody can help me.
Doing wipe & re-install of xp on a friends computer and having trouble finding the driver for the chip.
It's an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and before you ask...no he doesnt have any discs.
Any help much appreciated
I have found this if it's any good.

I have an HP with an Athlon X2 CPU. Windows update picked up the drivers automatically for it.

Its more than likely going to be the motherboard drivers that you need, locate the motherboard model number and google for the drivers is your best bet. If not, right click my computer > left click properties > Click Hardware Tab > Click Device manager , is there anything red or yellow in this box?
Install went well thanks, i was worrying over nothing...ended up getting the motherboard info with a very handy portable free app called SIW. (http://www.gtopala.com/)
Def worth a look if you wanna check your system. Everything from hardware to drivers to open ports plus much more.
NB. Check out the "secrets" tab...some of you may be quite shocked at how many old and new passwords it finds.
