Can the ps3 play .avi files?

I understand that my 360 can't play my .avi's, but is it a different story with the ps3, and is all as easy to set up as a wireless extender as a 360 say?

And is there any way to get my 360 to play .avi's?

Convert the AVIs to WMVs to play on your xbox.

And use PS3 Video 9 for your PS3.

Obviously you're only downloading free to download public service announcements from torrents.

I have a PS3 and it plays avi's etc all fine. It also plays MP4 in ace quality - like backups of blu-ray discs...

But surely if you were actually backing it up you'd do so to another Blu-Ray disc? :)

The 360 will happily play most Xvid/Divx format AVI files as well as H264 files, in fact pretty much everything the PS3 can play, but only if you are connected to Xbox Live.

This is a major oversight by Microsoft IMHO... :loopy:
