I just heard that there was a body found on the fields in the grounds of EDP near Abbeylane, has anyone heard anything about this?

The grounds are at the end of that quiet lane, just past the golf course and Abbey itself.

Not sure of any details, but people at work are talking about it, but know very little and as this forum is a good source of Sheffield info I wondered if anyone knew anything about it here or not?

As usual not a mention on the Sheffield Star website.

It's some computer software company, used to be based up near Fulwood near the Thornbury hospital I think, but they've been up near the Abbey for the last few years aparantly.

There's nothing on the BBC site and nothing on the Star's site.

Not sure if this just hasn't been released yet or if it's been made up by someone here, but the person that told me about it is normally very reliable and not the kind of person to make stuff up.

It definately happened. A few of us who post on here work at EDP. I was actually off ill yesterday but my collegues tell me that there were "rozzers" everywhere.

Yesterday aparantly, so the Police should definately still be there.

The EDP grounds are quite large though, so you would probably have to drive in to see them on the fields.

Also be careful as if they spot you driving up, looking around etc. they may come for a chat, especially as if it's true it's a murder scene.

Do you have any further information on this then? It appears there's nothing in the media at all at the moment.

Well, for this year yeah. I'm a placement student.

Not really. As I said, I was off ill yesterday.

Maybe it's some big cover-up. Maybe men in black coats are gonna come and erase our memories or something.

Has anyone actually seen any police still around? (if you know) If they're still there that would be a good indication that it was suspicious

There weren't any when I got to work this morning but I start at 8:45am so it's a bit early for the police anyway. Unless anyone posts sooner I'll let you know when I've been for my lunch.

Just out of interest, why are you bothered about seeing lots of police? You could always go to the police station, there's loads there!

A kind of curiousity if you will. I suppose it could be looked at as being nosey, but this is a forum for Sheffield people about Sheffield and this is a major incident that's not been covered by the press, so I was wondering what's going on.

If this incident is a Murder case... then i would have thought there would still be police tape (if not a white tent) in the area....

There were a good number of police cars there yesterday and apparently there were police dogs and divers but when I drove up today it all seemed back to normal.

Can't see anything about it on the south yorkshire police site either.

A body of a 59 year old man was found at the bottom of a 40ft ravine on Beauchief golf course on Monday afternoon. It seemed he was collecting golf balls and was not being treated as suspicious, according to Ceefax.

The death is not being considered suspicious and was the sad death of someone I knew.

Everyone who knew him is gutted. There was a story in Thursday nights Star, but I cannot find it on their website.
