Hiya
I had a car accident over a month ago which has given me loads of trouble with my back so my midwife has put in an urgent referal to Jessops for me to have physio there. She says they might not be able to help as they cant do manipulation with me being pregnant.
Im just wondering if anyone has had any physio at jessops before and what I can expect

My SIL went for Physio Therapy at the Jessop Wing recently but there was no hands on treatment just a chat with the physio and some leaflets. Have you ever considered going to see an Osteopath? See the following website for further details http://www.theosteopathicpractice.com/Mumstobe-22.asp

I've had physio twice there, not really been impressed sadly - one off sessions, mostly chat about best posture etc, all stuff you probably know already. :-(
Perhaps others have had better experiences?

We might all know these things but are we doing them? Probably not and tbh during my pregnancy I was even worse for my posture.

Thank you for the link michelle, il certainly have a look into that
My midwife did tell me that there might not be a lot they can do, posture wise im trying my best but just getting comfy is a struggle so being honest im probably not sitting correctly. I dont fancy this getting any worse over the next 16 weeks so really hoping they can help
I had sessions when pregnant back in 2002 at the Wainwright Practice on Kenwood Road!
If you are in Westfield they are recognised to claim some expenses back!
Good luck....:)
weenireeni 05-09-2011, 15:57 bumping up a really really old post! I've got an appt next week, just wondered what to expect? I'm going as have bad pelvis pains during my pregnancy
Hi
I have been having mild SPD /PGP since 14 weeks
I saw the NHS physio at Jessops - she did give me some good advice/ exercise info BUT didn't do any hands on stuff.
In fact hands on treatment for these issues during pregnancy can be massively beneficial - see
http://www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/
In general these pelvis issues arise because there is some inbalance between one side and the other. While you are not pregnant and you pelvis is acting like a solid block this doesn't really matter. When you are pregnant and the hormones relax the ligaments (which needs to happen to get the babay out) - your pelvis starts acting like 2 halves. If the forces acting all around it are even - no worries. If the forces are uneven, one half of your pelvis can move against the other giving pain in the front (pubic bone), or (normally one side) at the back above the buttock (sacroiliac joint).
An inbalance could be a tight muscle/group of muscles on one side, a stiff joint/ slightly different leg lengths. So evening things through massage/ gentle manipulation can ease the pain.
I know not everyone can afford to - but I would masively recommend seeing Carolyn Lyndsay at Stillpoint practice on Montgomery Road - she is a physio who specializes in womens health (in particular SPD/PGP as well as pelvic floor issues) - and she is a blooming miracle worker :)
Birth-Peace 21-09-2011, 19:40 I completely agree, Carolyn Lindsay is super
I sat through a session where all the other mums were overweight and were sitting horribly badly, and all it consisted of was a lecture for this group of people on posture (that sounds far worse than it was)
At the end I approached the lady who had taken the session and told her of my problem, and she was able to show me some exercises to alleviate the crick in my back/hip :)
