View Full Version : Where can I get suit alterations done?
Does anybody know where I can get suit alterations done?
I know most dry cleaners will take them off you, but they often send them away. Has anybody used an alteration service they can recommend?
Thanks
Try Ashley Rogers up at Manor Top, top end of City Road near the Manor Top tram stop.
Or there's a dress makers on Holme Lane at Hillsborough that does alterations.
Have you used Ashley Rodgers, Rich? Are they any good?
cgksheff 11-04-2005, 22:19 We've used Ashley Rogers a few times.
Once made-to-measure and twice for alterations.
Also bought off-the-peg from there.
Very good, friendly and work done on-site.
now then ashley, where's that fiver?
Hi cgk
I should give up 'asking experts' on the open boards, and just PM you, shouldn't I ;)
Thanks
Are they easy to find? I've never spotted them on the way past
cgksheff 11-04-2005, 22:27 They are in the row of shops on the left-hand side as you go from Manor Top down City Road. Between Somerfield and the Park & Arbouthorne WM Club.
He's even got his own little website (http://www.ashleyrogers.co.uk/) with map!
Phone: 239 9800
Thanks cgk. you're a star!
Thanks also to Rich  (who's PM inbox is full)
I'll tell them it was SheffieldForum that got them the business ;)
cgksheff 11-04-2005, 22:45 It's down to Rich, really.
I'd seen your question and didn't remember Ashley until he posted.
Good Luck.
That's interesting
Some newbie tore a strip off me for answering an ad with a vague location, when I was just resurrecting a thread with no answers.
Your answer here proves that memories are jogged by other posters (as I tried to argue, but got slapped again)
happychick 11-04-2005, 23:32 Theres a shop on Chesterfield Rd at Woodseats. Its called Ish.
Had quite a bit of stuff done there, Good service reasonable prices. I would definatley recommend it to you. Its a small buisness with that friendly personal touch to it, and they will put themselves out to make sure you get exactly what you want.
You can always go in and have a word with them, see if they can help you before you commit yourself to anything.
Thanks happychick
Would anybody go so far as to mention those businesses here (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26729)?
Hey! This thread made it onto the ticker!
happychick 13-04-2005, 01:37 Just added Ish to the thread you posted on small buisnesses.
OOps! Forgotten to collect Mr Strix's trousers!
BoppinBruce 26-04-2005, 13:12 There is one down Division Street that has a sign on the window that says 'Alterations taken in' If you want them let out, go elsewhere
technophobe 26-04-2005, 18:09 Carols at Tinsley are great and very cheap. You can see the shop as you come on to the roundabout at Tinsley viaduct as though your taking the bottom road towards Rotherham. Take your first left and its at the end of the row of shops they are very very good.
Plain Talker 26-04-2005, 22:49 Harringtons, the clothiers in the Castle Market do alterations, and at a reasonable price, to.
PT
Trousers collected :D
Job well done
Highly recommended - Ashley Rogers
Thanks Rich & CGK ;)
It cost £8 per pair, and considering they cost £14 each (instead of £45) I think we did quite well there
