View Full Version : Looking for parents of twins in Sheffield and pregnant ladies
Hi,
A scan last week revealed my pregnancy to be a multiple.
I wondered if there are any parents of twins on the forum or anyone else who is pregnant at the moment.
The twins thing is wonderful but I could do with a little advice and someone to ask questions of who has/is experiencing it.
Also, if there are any other Mum's to be looking for company/aquanatal classes etc etc.
Maybe we need a parent thread on the forum?
Cheers
Zebra
Congratulations on your news.
I have twin brothers,we are all grown up now though.
Both my parents are deaf in varying degrees and coped with me (3yrs) and my brothers. Both agree that they learned from an early age to be patient as my mum couldn`t see to both of them at the same time.
Both still quite layed back now
kate_sheff 11-04-2005, 18:16 Congratulations!
I know there is a Sheffield twins club but I don't have any contact details for them. If you try www.tamba.org.uk they have a list of twins clubs around the country.
Hope this helps
Kate x
Twins seem to run in my family
there is a saying that twins are more than twice as much trouble. This is probably because you only have one pair of hands!

Ok. Whilst you're only just coping, and tearing your hair out, and at the end of your tether.... try to remember to encourage both twins equally.
The latest pair in my family are now 3. There is a set scenario that plays out over and over again all day. one twin is always dominant, and in this case it is displayed thus:
R is more confident and is louder. She therefore has more practice in her speech and is easier to understand, so easily gets attention this way.
Her quieter sister gives up competing after a while (if the adult doesn't take command of the situation and re-balance it) and has learned that whingeing is the best way to divert attention to herself.
This gets more extreme and the cycles repeat more quickly as they get tired.
Other twins will have their own quirks, but there will always be the 'competition' between them. This is probably part of the reason why schools try to separate them these days
Congratulations! Zebra... when are the babies due?
Best Wishes
I have twin daughters 21 this year! Identical as well, they still make me laugh how they trick my dad, poor thing they have him wrapped round their little fingers, thought there was only me that could do that!
karen2388 13-04-2005, 12:56 Hi
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Hope everything goes well.
I don't know anything about twins but wanted to recomend the aquarobics classes at King Edwards. They're run by midwives and have both antenatal and postnatal sessions. They take place on Friday at 1.15 until 2pm and cost £3.

roobarbpie 14-04-2005, 17:29 I've got 6 year old twin girls . It's been a real rollercoaster. They were really hard work for the first year so I'd call in all favours owed. Worth it though. They are so fantastic I can't imagine how boring life would be without them. I didn't have much contact with the sheffield twins club - although it's worth joining for the good shop discounts you get. I recommend www.twinsclub.co.uk. Try their forums. They are an excellent source of support and there's always someone around to give advice no matter what time of day/night. I don't use them much anymore now my kids are at school but I'm sure you'll get a really warm welcome. You're welcome to contact me if you need any advice but I must admit the early years are nowt but a blur these days. :D
.....oh and congratulations. :)
Congratulations. Its hard work but great rewards.I think it gets easier as they get older then again may be not judging by my two:)

KimmiSav. 29-03-2010, 12:39 Hi there, I'm 24 weeks at the moment :) with only one though lol.
Would love to have twins, my ex partners cousins were identical boys, the cute age of 3 :) adorable, had a lot of fun with them; they're 6 now and little buggers so I've heard hehe. Good luck with the pregnancy, keep us updated! And I'm always up for aquanatal, would be good to get a few of us together sometime. Kimmi x
