I am new to Sheffiled and have no friends here yet....

I love trance music and dying to go dancing! Could anyone let me know where I should go in the town? I would also love to make girl friends here to go dancing together. (if possible!)

(I tried the Leadmill when an old friend of mine visited me here, but I didn't like it very much....)

well if she's really after trance and only trance then gaterasher/filth is probably what she's after. i just recommended my night cos she seemed in search of somewhere with great music cheap drinks and great people.. and the best part is the price!!

i often go out 'on my own' to places where i've been on the scene for years its ok cos theres always people i know out (so i feel relatively safe) and i feel relaxed in the company of my fav music.

its quite liberating and rather like going backpacking/travelling when you end up meeting loads of new people. try it matey!

true, but i do also go to different places where i don't know a soul which is more difficult - but thats usually to see bands rather than a club.

also i noticed on a different thread that you liked dnb/breakbeat/techno so if you ever want to go to a jungle night with me let me know 'cos i go to a lot of them and drink far too much vodka red bull too!!!

Hi Mindy,

Why thursday? Were trying to establish non cheese nights during the week and decided to pick thurs, as we are marketing thursdays - start the weekend early. Its the most viable option as there is only a few decent nights then.

You can effectively go to any club on ur own, but i suppose its always good to go with peeps. Non of ur mates like it or cant make it? Drop me an email to ed@thisthingcalleddance.com, can sort out paying g/list for u and ur mates. I'm just sorting out final preps for thurs, it should be wicked!! :thumbsup:

Hi, Yella Fella and Asha. Sorry I have never been able to make it, but I am just too new to Sheffield to go out without anyone I know very well!!

Anyway... a good old friend of mine is coming up to Sheffield this weekend (actually it is my birthday on Sunday)! We are dying to go dancing together!!

The only thing is... we may be able to go out only on Sunday night....

Is there any nice place we can go for dancing on Sunday in Sheffield? Obviously I love trance music, but it doesn't matter, as it must be hard to find a night club with trance music on Sunday.....

I would be happy if anyone could let me know where we should go!! I have been in Sheffield for 2 months and been to only the Leadmill, which I didn't like very much.... We also don't want to go to a place full of teenagers.

NOthing really for trance on a sunday, but come down to Probe - lots of trance at the Lescar pub Sharrowvale lane, next to ecclesall road on every Saturday night, pub opening hours, lots of very friendly people to introduce you to the scene.
Also Headcharge at the city Hall 29th November always has a friendly crowd that;'ll talk to anyone

The Lescar is the nearest pub from my flat! I didn't know they do trance music. This Sat, we have a very tight schedule, so we can't have a proper clubbing night, but definitely have time to go to the Lescar! (We don't have to pay to get in, do we?) Thanks so much!!!

Shame nothing exciting seems to be happening on Sunday night... but if anyone knows anything, please let me know.

I wish I were a student, so I could make friends so easily... I moved up here for work 2 months ago, and all my colleagues are married with kids.... so it is hard for me to find someone to go out with, really....

I'm in manchester this weekedn or I'd say I'd meet you down there and say hello. but probably there next weekend
But I highly recommend Headcharge at city Hall or Planet Zogg when its on again. If you feel like coming down to either drop us a line and say hello

maybe when the r&b nights used to be on, but Urban Gorilla use it on a Fridays to do quality breakbeat nights.

And as for what the pause team have done, its not a bad do. Every other venue is more or less taken or failed on, so until then, charles st will be used. To be fair, it could do with a lick of paint in some places, and possibly few more lights/smoke machines etc.

because as far as i can see it, my long love for crasher, well when is the next night apart from boxing day/nye? not to mention NEC on 29th :D there is no other quality trance related night. I went to see Howard Marks do his Mr Nice spoken word gig in the Memorial Hall and could hear the headcharge sound system booming through the city hall when it started!

So did it fill out? The City Hall Ballroom is a big venue, higher capacity than the Arches i wouldda thought.

I never made it to a club, too busy playing table-football down the casbad kakbar. Rock on.:headbang:

not sure about sat, but next pause is on 11-Dec, feat. goodgreef djs and filth... not to mention the best in breaks/prog/funky house and electro mashup in the basement :thumbsup:

This weekend seems pretty bare, lescar on saturday sounds good to me as well.

Have been in Shef for 3 yrs n have seen the trance scene dwindle to almost nuthing.

Headcharge/Planet Zogg is great n ppl r the friendliest around, but it's just not trance!! :P

Gonna head down to Pause tonite n check it out, hope it won't be disappointing!!! (so is stevie g playing tonite? last time saw him was in Blessed in Republic when he was starting out, but he was banging! :D)

Had a good time there, tho it was a bit of a shock when i got into the club. YellaFella was right, it could need a lick of paint or two, but heck i give it thumbs up anytime.

I go to Charles st. for UG quite a lot. Even though it's not the nicest venue in the world, it still works when the music is good and the people are cool.

This month see's Glaswegian techno and house heavyweights Stuart and Orde grace the Shush 1's and 2's...

Often quoted as two of the most prolific producers in the British techno scene these guys are sure to bring a special night of rave madness to .Zero (Opposite Gatecrasher)


Shush runs from 10pm to 4am and is Cheap entry with drinks offers ont he night.

Anyone else think Slam are overrated? I've bought (literally) thousands of techno 12s in my time, and the only Slam one was Postive Education.

Put it this way mate it's better than anything else happening in Sheffield at the end of this month bar our good friends UG...

yo andy, try to look out for a night called Turbulence. my mate is organising it and the next one coming up is on the first thursday of feb and Amber D is playing. if u r not into hard trance, do come anyway coz she's a babe n she's really good! :D :D

hi all well thought id register after readin this post ive been to pause at charles street and i have to say its a wkd nite full of underground tunes and a different mix of music than what i'm used to bein hard trance and hard house but stevie g certainly turned it up on the 11th dec!!! people really should check that 1 out and also as some1 already said turbulence on at club zero, i think the first thurs of the month is ace as well....

if u like it a little harder than the rest last time on the 5th dec guyver was down there and absolutely rocked the place cant wait for amber d if shes there in feb gonna b a wkd end of exam party iuf she is!!!

Yeah filth is in the plazma lounge at republic (GC1) on tuesdays. It's kind of trance and progressive, but does vary. Very good night indeed.
