But I think if I had cats, I'd be still having nightmares about one scene. Edited: Hang on, I don't think that's quite right. There was one scene where something nasty was done to a cat, and even as a non-cat owner that had me hiding behind my hands. pb63 11-04-2010, 16:49 Well this would be right up my street but don't know if it would appeal to others - http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/philspector shlg 11-04-2010, 17:07 Dogtooth looks interesting to me. It'd have to be the Monday rather than the Wednesday for me, though, if we chose that one. pb63 12-04-2010, 12:13 Monday would suit me better too but depends if Maels would be happy to see the film for a second time, otherwise I think we need to keep our thinking caps on. shlg 12-04-2010, 12:14 Sorry, I somehow missed that Maels had already seen it. Maels 13-04-2010, 07:08 Monday would suit me better too but depends if Maels would be happy to see the film for a second time, otherwise I think we need to keep our thinking caps on. I was pretty sleepy at the time, so I don't think I got much out of it--I don't mind seeing it again. pb63 13-04-2010, 12:53 Purdyamos is having a ponder on the Greek suggestion too. pb63 22-04-2010, 05:30 Having carried out the usual soundings, the next meeting will be 26 April, 18.20 for Dogtooth. Cinnamon:) 25-04-2010, 12:06 When is the next meeting for a film? How many people normally turn up to these viewings? It obviously depends on the film as well. I've just moved to Sheffield so am interested to coming to the next viewing. Thanks shlg 25-04-2010, 13:45 Having carried out the usual soundings, the next meeting will be 26 April, 18.20 for Dogtooth. At the Showroom Cinema on Paternoster Row. Cinnamon:) 25-04-2010, 14:35 I will not be able to make tomorrow's meeting. Let me know about the next one. Thanks Ares7K 03-06-2010, 22:09 Any meetings for 'The Time that Remains'? Anyone is welcome to join, probably end up going sometime in the week, next week. Jonny5 04-06-2010, 16:13 They have a couple of showings of Letter from an Unknown Woman next week. Cannot recommend this film highly enough. If you haven't seen it before and are at all interested in cinema it is a must see. To be honest it's a must see on the big screen: period. Though perhaps not if your idea of great cinema is Michael Bay. pb63 26-06-2010, 16:37 How about this for our next meet? http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/lymelife Maels 27-06-2010, 11:12 How about this for our next meet? http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/lymelife That would be OK with me :) shlg 27-06-2010, 20:15 That's fine with me, too. Which day? pb63 28-06-2010, 19:30 Monday 5th? shlg 28-06-2010, 19:32 OK with me. Will you send a message to the facebook group, if it's alright by maels too? Maels 28-06-2010, 20:02 OK with me. Will you send a message to the facebook group, if it's alright by maels too? Fine with me too :) Annie136 30-06-2010, 09:20 Hi, When will you next be going? Is it a weekly or monthly outing? I love watching films at The Showroom and I'd like to see Robo-Geisha and Black Dynamite if anyone else is interested? Annie. pb63 01-07-2010, 19:20 We are next going on Monday 5th at 18.45. Roughly monthly. shlg 06-07-2010, 13:00 In an almost unprecedented piece of forward-planning, those of us who came along to the movie group last night agreed on a film, a date and a time for the next meeting. We're going to see Letters to Juliet at 6pm on Monday 26th July, at the Showroom. http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/letterstojuliet Hope to see you there. aelfheah 21-07-2010, 14:15 Hi I am interested in films and chatting about them, especially over a drink! Can anyone 'join'? Also, when you guys meet monthly, what range of films do you watch and discuss- 'alternative' or foreign movies? shlg 21-07-2010, 14:21 Yes, anyone's welcome to join us, and you can find out what films we've seen in the past by looking back through this thread. We see a lot of 'alternative' and foreign films with the odd mainstreamish one thrown in here and there. pb63 06-09-2010, 18:33 I would be happy to see either the Runaways or the Illusionist on Thurs 16th Sept. Any other suggestions? shlg 06-09-2010, 18:41 I'd be happy to see either; I may or may not be able to come, depending on what time a sofa arrives and urgently needs assembling! pb63 16-09-2010, 10:31 To avoid ambiguity, as there has been no real take up on this, we will not be having a meet on 16th September. Suggestions welcome for next meet. Maels 16-09-2010, 12:36 Well, there's The Winter's Bone at a sensible time next week (I've seen the trailer twice and it looks intriguing, although I did feel I'd get more out of it if there were subtitles...). And there's the Spanish Foreign-language Oscar winner at a sensible time the following week--I have no idea if it's any good but I wouldn't mind seeing it. pb63 18-09-2010, 15:46 Following "soundings" our next meeting will be 6.30 on Thursday 23rd Sept for Winter's Bone. Michellefilm 22-09-2010, 15:06 Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that, if any of you are interested in making as well as watching films, there's a free workshop running in Sheffield on the 1st October. If you go to that you get the chance to make a short for free with professional support. The scheme's funded by Screen Yorkshire. You have to apply at the Bradford City of Film site... the deadline is this Friday 24th Sept! pb63 26-11-2010, 09:47 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/rareexports This looks bizarre but perhaps worth a watch? Maels 26-11-2010, 12:00 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/rareexports This looks bizarre but perhaps worth a watch? I've seen the trailer and bizarre is certainly a word for it! (was also strange to hear Finnish) But as options at sensible times are pretty limited, I'd be up for it but I can only do the 20th. crankypants 29-11-2010, 17:16 Hi pb63 and maels, On Rare Exports-this sounds good, I would definitely be interested in going to see it! When were you thinking of going? pb63 29-11-2010, 19:20 20th suits me too, 7pm would be the best showing to allow for discussion. pb63 09-12-2010, 19:59 As there have been no other suggestions shall we firm up for 7pm on the 20th? shlg 20-12-2010, 07:39 Sorry, I can't make it tonight. Enjoy! Maels 12-01-2011, 18:10 How about Blue Valentine as the next film, or does someone else want to suggest something else? pb63 13-01-2011, 19:51 Fine by me. Maels 17-01-2011, 17:42 Any suggestions for dates then? I think I'm free whenever. pb63 18-01-2011, 15:19 Thursday 27th? Maels 19-01-2011, 17:34 Thursday 27th? That would be fine with me :) pb63 16-03-2011, 16:39 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/ofgodsandmen How about this on 28th or 29th March? shlg 16-03-2011, 18:20 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/ofgodsandmen How about this on 28th or 29th March? I'd really like to see that, and I'm free on 29th March. Maels 16-03-2011, 18:22 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/ofgodsandmen How about this on 28th or 29th March? I'd be happy to see that, and both days are fine with me. pb63 22-03-2011, 19:37 Unfortunately the times don't look great. Of suitably timed films on 29th how about Submarine? shlg 22-03-2011, 19:39 Fine by me. Maels 22-03-2011, 19:41 Unfortunately the times don't look great. Of suitably timed films on 29th how about Submarine? Otherwise I'd be up for it but I've already seen it pb63 23-03-2011, 19:39 The Portuguese Nun at 5.45? Maels 24-03-2011, 16:12 The Portuguese Nun at 5.45? Fine by me shlg 24-03-2011, 16:25 Fine by me too. pb63 25-03-2011, 10:25 Ok, I have sent that to the Facebook page to firm up on Portuguese Nun, 17.45 29th March. pb63 26-05-2011, 19:14 Our next meet will be on June 22 for the 18.15 showing of Potiche. Maels 25-06-2011, 12:23 Potiche was fun :) Showroom July programme (http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/media/cinema guide/Showroom_Guide_July.pdf) is available now - any thoughts for next time? pb63 27-06-2011, 18:57 Beginners looks good, but I could only do the Tuesday. pb63 01-07-2011, 20:53 I would like to see the Conspirators but not on at a suitable time. Maels 02-07-2011, 07:30 Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing either, but the Consiprator times are stupid, and Beginners on the Tuesday (26th) is only on at 4pm and 8.20pm, which are not very good either, so I don't know. Tree of Life trailer looked fairly interesting, but it's on at stupid times as well. pb63 02-07-2011, 16:21 Looks like Beginners is on at 6.20 as well?? Maels 02-07-2011, 17:45 Looks like Beginners is on at 6.20 as well?? On other days yes but not on the Tuesday which I thought was the only day that you could do? Or which days are we talking about? pb63 03-07-2011, 17:06 According to the online programme (linked above), it is the Monday where there is no 6.20 showing and there is one on Tuesday 26th. Maybe the printed programme is different? Maels 03-07-2011, 18:54 According to the online programme (linked above), it is the Monday where there is no 6.20 showing and there is one on Tuesday 26th. Maybe the printed programme is different? No, you're right. The printed programme agrees with you, but if you go on the website and check what's on by clicking the date on the calendar, there's no 6.20 screening on the 26th. pb63 27-07-2011, 11:12 This looks interesting! http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/thetaqwacores Maels 29-07-2011, 18:25 This looks interesting! http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/thetaqwacores It does :) pb63 30-07-2011, 08:34 Shall we go for the showing on the 10th then, with the director/actor doing a Q&A afterwards? Maels 01-08-2011, 18:12 Shall we go for the showing on the 10th then, with the director/actor doing a Q&A afterwards? That works for me pb63 03-09-2011, 09:28 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/trollhunter Too silly? Maels 03-09-2011, 10:39 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/trollhunter Too silly? I've seen the trailer a couple of times and it did look rather silly but it's sometimes hard to tell with trailers. But the description sounds interesting pb63 10-09-2011, 14:45 Has been getting generally good reviews. Maels 11-09-2011, 19:27 Has been getting generally good reviews. Shall we give it a go, assuming it's on at sensible times? karensal 22-09-2011, 18:02 Is this group still meeting? pb63 23-09-2011, 14:33 Yes though our numbers have become increasingly "selective". New blood always welcome. pb63 23-09-2011, 14:37 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/tyrannosaur How about this on Tues 12th or Thurs 14th Oct at 1815? Maels 23-09-2011, 14:43 http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/tyrannosaur How about this on Tues 12th or Thurs 14th Oct at 1815? The film looks interesting but that week isn't very good with me, I'm working until 5.30pm and can't really make it back to Sheffield until closer to half six. Maels 28-09-2011, 15:24 The film looks interesting but that week isn't very good with me, I'm working until 5.30pm and can't really make it back to Sheffield until closer to half six. Actually, scratch that, thanks to a rota shuffle I can make it now - would prefer Tues unless unless you've made other plans already. There doesn't seem to be much else interesting on offer. pb63 01-10-2011, 09:23 Actually, I can't make the Thursday any more, but Tuesday would be fine. So let's go for that at 1815. Maels 01-10-2011, 09:58 Actually, I can't make the Thursday any more, but Tuesday would be fine. So let's go for that at 1815. OK, that's fine with me - so Tuesday the 11th at 1815 it is. Maels 26-10-2011, 06:11 The Showroom November programme (http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/media/cinema%20guide/ShowroomGuideNovember2011.pdf) is out - The Awakening looks interesting pb63 30-10-2011, 17:36 That looks good. How about the 14th or the 16th? Maels 30-10-2011, 19:35 I would prefer the 16th pb63 06-11-2011, 13:47 16th is fine by me. pb63 10-11-2011, 11:46 Let's go for the 6pm showing of The Awakening on the 16th then. pb63 27-12-2011, 11:47 How about The Artist during week beginning 9 January? http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/theartist Maels 27-12-2011, 12:41 How about The Artist during week beginning 9 January? http://www.showroomworkstation.org.uk/theartist That would be fine with me :) Gillingtons 06-01-2012, 04:29 HI IM WANTING TO JOIN A MOVIE GROUP IN SHEFFIELD - I JUST WONDERED WHAT AGE RANGE THE PEOPLE ARE THAT MEET IN THIS GROUP I WONDERED IF I MIGHT BE A BIT OVER THE HILL AT 56 - AND IF SO DO YOU KNOW OF ANYMORE GROUPS WITH THAT AGE RANGE MANY THANKS :help: Maels 07-01-2012, 12:49 HI IM WANTING TO JOIN A MOVIE GROUP IN SHEFFIELD - I JUST WONDERED WHAT AGE RANGE THE PEOPLE ARE THAT MEET IN THIS GROUP I WONDERED IF I MIGHT BE A BIT OVER THE HILL AT 56 - AND IF SO DO YOU KNOW OF ANYMORE GROUPS WITH THAT AGE RANGE MANY THANKS :help: Not sure why you felt you needed to shout  Anyway, the core of this group these days is me and pb63, and I'm the younger of us in my 30s. Maels 20-02-2012, 19:31 Well I don't know, and it's a good question that needs answering promptly if it's going to happen.
