Now we know what we all carry around in our bags, I reckon it's time those of us with desks confessed all too. Apparently your desk says loads about your personality and character...

My desk is a specially constructed and tirelessly maintained tribute to chaos and immaturity.:D :loopy:

My monitor has plastic frogs and lizards climbing up it, a paper butterfly, and a bendy dog, two feathers, computer haikus - oh, and a squidgy banana stress-buster thing.
On the wall, my noticeboard is covered in more lizards and frogs, a sparkly windmill, and masses of pieces of paper, most of which are pretty pictures rather than important memos.
On the desk itself, there is a bottle of bubbles. a wooden ladybird, a green plastic desk tidy full of moss, stones, feathers, chestnuts, sticks, a pinecone, etc...And a small magnifying glass masquerading as a plastic whale. More frogs and lizards. Huge swathes of paper I don't want to lose (which I will if they go in the in-tray). Several empty drinks cans/bottles, my diary, and my phone. And my wolf baccy tin.
My in-tray is so full it may well collapse and kill my neighbour at any time. And there is another bendy dog and a frog hanging off of it.

Beat that!:wow:

Desk in the office - nothing as we have a clean desk policy so I make it up for it at home

Desk at home

2 old mobiles and my current one plus a landline phone
2 printers - one does not work
a pile of junk mail - saving it for my blue bin
2 Cameras
usual office stuff like stapler, whole punch, pens pens and more pens
Screwdrivers
Roll of electrical tape
Tape measure
A calender on the wall made by my daughter at school
and a glittery picture she made too
A sporting trophey
an old filofax which I dont use
lots of cds without any labels on or writing so I don't know what the hell is on them
One of those big scribbly pad thingys
an empty cup
a couple of shells from the beach
and a clay paper weight head that is supposed to be me, again made by my daughter.

At the moment I have piles.......................... piles of work scattered all over my desk. Hope not to be the case by 4:30! Other than the mass piles, I have my homer simpson mug full of fresh tea, a picture of my dog and lots of little toy type things to keep me occupied when the boredom sets in!!!

My desk at work is a nightmare. Papers in piles everywhere, and no order whatsoever.. because whenever I file anything it must relocate itself in the night, so I never ever see it again.
I always seem to be doing 10 things at once (would be 9, but keep coming onto the Forum while at work)
mY desk at home has no papers - just my keyboard (music variety) - which gets MUCH less use than my computer keyboard.

Wish my desk was as tidy as those.

I've got:
A computer,
A TV and Video,

A bottle of vinegar,
2 empty mugs, 1 containing cutlery,
2 lighters, 1 broken,
4 tubes of various ointment,
A free chinese or curry voucher,
2 costas,
An empty pint glass,
An ash tray,
Salt and pepper,
2 empty beakers,
Paracetamol,
A plastic fork,
A bible,
A screwdriver,
5p,
A pen rack (with no pens in),
A mobile phone holder (with no mobile phone in),
A nectar card,
and a reciept for £45.80.

Check out the mug too.
So does the Sheffield Forum have an online store now?
Or are they giving it away only to special people?

Yay i received my 3ft skeleton on friday so he is on my desk along with my pink and purple lavalamp, my hair serum, my fluffy diary, fluffy files, anatomy book, laptop and that book that amazon sent me a week ago thats the wrong one.

Its still in its package but i dont want to send it back cos its such an interesting book but i do need the one i originally ordered. I fear they wont send me my original book until i send the wrong one back though (ive sent them emails asking if i can keep it but they havent responded in hope ill give up any hope of keeping it and send it back to them so i can get the right one - grrrr)

I don't have a desk, but surrounding the computer where it is is a pile of many CDs (radiohead, hole, ani difranco mainly), a few days medication supply, an empty carton of strawberry oy (soya milkshake drink... yummm), half a little bag of cashew nuts, and a half-made lavender bag.

Nothing like that Funke88, I took the liberty of ordering it for myself probably breaching the forums copyright but hey, it's only a mug and it's advertising the forum.
It worked out quite pricey as well but I like it.

Well spotted by the way.

Maybe an online store would be a good idea, I'd certainly use it.

If we do set up an online store, *don't* do it with www.cafepress.com

On the surface it looks great - you send them a design and they make the stuff.

BUT

A list I'm on set up a store and I ordered a few mugs and t shirts and what not.

Postage to the UK was something totally extortionate.

But I did it anyway, and now I have got a letter saying I owe them £25 for customs charges. I had no idea about this and certainly can't afford it!

So NOT with them. If there's a UK equivalent though it is a good idea.

Desk at work:

PC covered with Post-It notes, telephone (covered with) piles of research papers and reports, about a dozen books - SAP R/3, ABAP, SAP Web Application Server, SAP Business Information Warehouse, Datawarehousing, MS SQL Server reference library, Analysis Services, Oracle books, computer research journals, research papers I'm writing/proof reading, business cards, application CDs, and a cup of tea (now tepid - yuck!). All pretty boring stuff appart from the tea.

An absolute mess. Virtually no visible desk at all, and just about enough room to use the keyboard. Completely against the company "tidy desk" policy, apparently. Nevermind.

Desk at home:

Pretty much the same, appart from the lack of telephone, and the books, which are mostly archaeology books and research as opposed to computer books.
