That would be a really good idea, providing you can find a small piece of land at that price anywhere, what with property prices through the roof and suffering a 20% inflation rate... About 7 years ago, when I had a windfall of £7000 or so, I saw a small derelict property for about £5000 advertised in Mansfield....... but it had been sold, just the week before!!! Gutted! After paying off my Student loan and a few bills, I still had about £5000 left, and nearly all of that went into starting up as an entertainer; I am a drag queen with a talent for singing, mime-acts, comedy and magic, but I had to start putting serious money into wigs, outfits, makeup, magical equipment, recording and microphone equipment, travel to courses, networking events, etc. even luggage to carry my gear; My suggestion, is that if you have a talent, say, playing the guitar, singing, acting, invest in a decent musical instrument and recording gear, a couple of decent outfits/costumes or a video camera, up to date computer, etc., that will help you get exposure on the internet/local scene/more gigs, etc. It is also worth spending a bit of money on some training/workshops for whichever area of entertainment one might be getting into. CHarrison 05-11-2008, 07:19 PM Is their much land around for 5 grand? COSS 05-11-2008, 07:38 PM start a small buisness, that offers promis for profit,painting,pointing,etc...reliable vehicle and tools. DonRawlins 05-11-2008, 09:33 PM Is their much land around for 5 grand? No! Not even in the depths of this recession they have talked us into. I own a number of rental properties and go to auctions quite often. I have never seen any land go that cheap in all the time I have been going. I would advise the original poster to invest it in his future, maybe a professional qualification (privately funded eg an MBA) or possibly an ISA ltcd 10-11-2008, 02:59 AM One of my clients has a good investment oppertunitie and its only 2k he needs. zizila 15-11-2008, 02:27 PM depends on what you study. if you can be really hard working Find someone else from the uni (or outside) you know he/she is really good in what they do. together come up with some ideas (anything from web pages to engineering solution & so on). take the money and invest them into reserch of the best one. it will take all your free time and may cost more that 5000 but at the end you may make more than just by investing them into other things and it will taste much sweeter chris101 26-11-2008, 11:57 AM Give t me to invest in a Turkish Bank account they pay interest at around 16% and it's paid monthly. garrence 30-11-2008, 03:37 AM The OP might have found something to do with his 5k in the 5 months since he opened this thread.
