Last year I contracted pneumonia and pleurisy.
As a result I find my health has deteriorated a lot,
does anyone go on really short walks (less than three miles) preferably on the flat to start with.
I would be interested in such walks as I need to build myself up again.
Thanks,
Barry
You could probably try the 5 weirs walk from town to Meadowhall along the River then get a tram/bus back. There are no hills but bits of it are still in disrepair after the floods.
Endcliffe Park as far as Forge Dam and back is a nice gentle one.
You might also like to have a look at the Council's Health Walks - here (http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/out--about/parks-woodlands--countryside/ranger-service/health-projects-team/health-walks-scheme)
If I think of any other good walks I'll post them
How about round Dam Flask near Bradfield? fairly flat, lots of parking nearby and plenty of seats on the way round.
It depends about how you feel walking with others, but 'health walks' are up to 3 miles, are specifically tailored to promote walking as an acheivable, regular form of exercise. They are run by trained volunteer walk leaders. I run one in the area that I live, but as i'm in Barnsley, then I doubt that would be any good.
If you check www.whi.org.uk you will be able to see if there is anything on your area.
You could go to Fox House and walk the well worn section up to the base of the hills.
Chesterfield has a walking festival on the 26th to 28th, several 3 mile walks. We've booked one with a canal cruise thrwon in for the journey back.

Hi Barry. I'll second Feargals proposal; it's a lovely place for a stroll and you can take it at whatever pace suits your health. Great views and there are indeed plenty of benches at fairly regular intervals.
The Rivelin valley would probably suit you as well, it's also very largely on the level and is quite beautiful at this time of the year. Not sure if you drive or not, but it's easily accessible by bus ( No. 11 from town), or you can take the Malin Bridge tram to the terminus and it's only a five minute walk to get to the start of the walk.
Good luck with your walking and I hope your health gets the boost it needs.
If town's easy to get to the canal also offers good flat walking from the City centre all the way out to Rotherham and the tram can take you back when you've had enough.
Can anyone tell me how far is it to walk round Dam Flask please?

Hour and half max, a bit less if you were walking with me!
A complete loop of the Flask is just over 3 miles I think. You can always just do part of it and double back or if you go on the New Road side you can cut up through the Woods and walk back along the pavement all the way into Bradfield.
Thanks for that, I don`t know if I can manage 3 miles but I`m going to give it a go, even if it takes me a long time.
