It is all relative.

Where are you living at the moment?

My information is a bit out of date but I was based near kettering for about a year and so often walked through the town centre. The locals seemed friendly and it is a pretty place building wise. There were new housing estates on two sides of the town although I'd imagine that has spread further since last time I was there. I liked the fact that the countryside didn't seem to be too far away and the fact that it's on a main railway line was also useful.

wlecome biscuit,

I just find it a little strange that someone from Southend would ask a Sheffield forum about Kettering.

You are actually closer to Kettering than we are.

Are you originally from Sheffield?

Kettering's OK; mind you it's years since I had a good ketter.

Actually cgk, with 10,000+ users, it's surprising how many of us have experienced that area ;)

I worked in Corby for 6 months (can't say I'd recommend moving there) and Dinp comes from there, so there should be some good info to be had.

There's a great variation in locations (olde worlde villages to more modern towns like Northampton) so a visit is the best way to decide what suits best.

With a bit more info from biscuit_girl, we may be able to offer better advice.

I know Kettering fairly well. Its an OK kind of place. Good shopping centre, a theatre, cinemas and all the usual stuff. It also has Wickstead Park, an amusement park left to Kettering by Charles Wickstead, the maker of street furniture and playground equipment. As you say, you are close to Northampton and the Derngate Theatre and Weston Favel Shopping Centre. Mind I moved away from there!

I was wondering where Kettering was ... in Northamptonshire is it?

You can see biscuitgirl's thinking here though cgksheff, Kettering is in Northants, Sheffield is in The North, ergo, I'll ask the Sheffield Forum!

Don't bother with Kettering, biscuitgirl - just come straight to Sheffield ... as you can see, we have the best Forum in the world!!
