Hello,
I have a 8month old son who eats loads but is not putting weight on. He's stayed at 19lb for about 2 months.
He is very very active, he climbs off the sofa all the time!! and he is always on his feet (basically he will NOT sit still). He's got a heart murmur and i am scared to death that its to do with this. I have spoken to his health visitor and she doesn't at all seemed concerned because he is a happy thriving baby. Is anyone having the same problem with their bundle of joy???

Rachel is 14 weeks, and has a pansystolic heart murmur, she's currently 11lb, and her weight gain can vary dramatically between 1oz per week and 8oz per week.
Your little one is obviously very active, and perhaps this is where the calories are going, personally, from a blokes point of view, I would talk to your health visitor about food levels, and perhaps increasing the calorific value, or quantity of the food he has - but only after talking to the health visitor.
Mat.

my son was very skinny, my health visitor weighed him regularly and he just didnt put weight on. they refered him to hospital where they prescribed something called polycal which i had to put in to his milk. sure enough he started putting on weight, but was never a fat baby. hes 11 now and is still very skinny, ive just come to the conclusion my son will never be obese.

i wouldnt worry, i have the HV's' moaning constantly because my 17 month old only weighs about 20lb. She's forever eating and is healthy and alert so I just assume shes going to be petite. He sounds a good weight and is active, if he's eating and drinking ok then stop worrying (I know its easier said than done!) another peice of advice I know someone with the same worries was told to leave it a few months between weighing as they have growth spurts and slowdowns, he'll probably start to put weight on again in a couple of months or so!
Is he tall? My son was always way under weight for his age because he was always too tall for his age? He kept growing up instead of out!!

He is tall, he wears 12-18 month clothing.
I have taken him to the health visitor again today and she said there was nothing wrong with him, and that he was very very active for his age.
Thanks you all for the comments, made me feel better knowing it wasn't me doing something wrong!!

That's it then, he's putting all his calories into growing up and not out!
