I've said farewell to a good friend of mine today 650 quid! The money was passed onto another old friend, Sheffield Wednesday, for the boy and mines season ticket.

I'm wondering, have you parted with a similar friend of late?:hihi:

£650? thats discusting, the price at the lane would have been £460? i really don't see how they can justify that price?

Even more shocking is the news on the SWFC website that your 12 to 14 year old kid can be a ballboy/girl at Hillsborough next season..............for a mere £400!

OK, so they get a waterproof jacket and a bit of kit, but surely the club should be paying them!

Your thoughts please.

If someone's willing to pay me money to do a job for me, why would I ever be so stupid is to pay them money instead?

i heard about this ballboy/girls ting yesterday, couldnt believe it. i dont know how other clubs do it but £400 to be one is rediculous, fair enough if it was a small amount to cover uniform. i'd be very surprised if many other clubs charge this

:loopy: good grief, how wrong is that?!

I always thought the club paid them to do that, after all, theyre providing a service to the club.

Do you have to pay to be the club mascots too? Theyll be charging Ozzie Owl to go on the pitch next! Daylight robbery!
 Sort yourselves out Wednesday!

You can tell Wednesday must really be desperate for cash when they are charging people to be ballboys/girls. I think its safe to say next season there will be no one there to throw the ball back on the pitch.

Dont know how Wednesday fans put up with this crap.

There's nowt us Owls can do about it... the board are not going to sack themselves.
We have to sit back and watch our club fester away.
Thankfully, the manager and the players have a better attitude, and, I think, will do well for us on the pitch.
The less we hear about the Wednesday board, the better.
They certainly don't represent me.

I wonder what the age, weight and height restriction is for this ball bay thing, i might put myself down for a ball biy station infront of the Kop when the Blades play at Hillsborough.

31yr old, 16 stone and 6'3, i wonder if the waterproofs will fit.

PS - do i have to bring my own armbands???!?!?!?

Stockers... I hope that's not a reference to swimming armbands?
Behave yourself;)
If you do go for it, you'll not be very busy in the second half, as Wednesday kick towards that goal in the second half..... and we very rarely miss!:D
Plus, at £400 pound a chuck, you'll not be at the kop end, you'll be doing all 4 sides!
Good Luck!

is that £400 a game?? or £400 for a season being a ball boy?

Its £400 a season, at least i'd hope so. :o

I'm parting with my hard earned for a season ticket myself, going on the kop. Madness with what we put up as fans, and the shocking season we had just gone. But i'll be there still supporting the lads on the pitch.

Despite being crapped on from a great height by the board you put your money where your mouth is and still drag yourself there to support the team. More power to you, nobody can deny you're a gentleman and a scholar
