View Full Version : Red House pub; any updates?
gularscute 09-04-2005, 17:03 Does anyone know what's happening to The Red House pub? I heard it was changing hands and undergoing refurbishment. Can anyone reassure me that it's going to keep it's informal music scene and not change into yet another soulless chain pub?
Kristian 09-04-2005, 17:06 I wouldn't have thought that there were many pub chains interested in a pub in that location; does this mean Linda is leaving?
theimposter 09-04-2005, 18:22 this place hasnt closed down has it?
Linda hasn't had the Red House for ages.
I go most Friday nights and can assure you that it hasn't closed, it hasn't changed hands and the informal music sessions continue! I'm having a party there at the end of May.
This rumor must have started because the pub company put a 'To Let' sign up recently, but Martin has signed up for another five year lease, so the pub's safe for now. :)
Kristian 10-04-2005, 13:03 I really must keep up with the times! Now I think about it, it's at least 2 years since I went in. Does anyone know where Linda went to? I liked her, she was funny!
I believe Martin still keeps her in the cellar ;)
Seriously though I'm not sure. Someone did tell me but I can't remember now. Pretty sure she didn't get another pub though - will try and find out.
gularscute 10-04-2005, 18:20 Thanks folks, especially Meaks. I'm reassured. It'd be a tragedy if we lost another gem.
linda has moved to skyedge with her grandson and old george the dog, mike who is my dad and helped run the pub with her has retired to,will assure you all linda is fine and that the red house is in good hands
Ousetunes 11-04-2005, 15:20 Superb boozer. I used to enjoy their Ward's and Kirby ales, a bit like an even maltier version of Ward's.
Sheffield needs pubs like the Red House (and Fagan's).
Good luck whatever's happening!

gularscute 11-04-2005, 19:40 Cheers THCayle, (Do they serve that at the Red House?). Good to hear Linda is well and happy and that the old place is in good hands I'll be going there Friday.
They've had some pretty decent ale in there recently - Adnams, Pale Rider, Bomabardier, Abbot...
I'll see you Friday! :D
