A few years ago I was on holiday in Italy, and spent a day in Sienna. There was a group of german bikers there and one in particular, a huge bloke with a big beard, looked a bit like a grizzly bear in a leather jacket, had written on the back of his jacket in German "I'm too proud to shop at Aldi" .

I didn't know Aldi were considered 'cheap' here. I've called in the one at Attercliffe occasionally and never had any argument with the quality of stuff, - it seems to be just a 'no-frills minimart selling basic groceries. Very efficient check-out too, - they run rings round Tesco and Morrisons.

A friend of mine lived in Germany many years ago and used to shop at Lidl then, she was pleased to see it arrive here she say`s they regard it as we do our tesco over here.

They are cheap over there. used to shop in them while I lived out there. Missed them when I came back to England so was glad they followed me.

Had much more choice though, still can`t find German Currywurst over here.
You used to be able to buy crates of beer and then bring the crate back and re-fill.
They also had there own pastry department. Perhaps one day this will happen over here.
