Before I turn him over to a cat rescue, does anyone own a very scruffy un-neutered black cat, with fight scars, in Hillsborough? He's been lurking around for a couple of months without problems. But now he's coming through our brand new cat flap and has been found on the sheepskin rug asleep with the resident wimp pussy cats pretending they hadn't noticed. He has sprayed his Tom cat smell somewhere and can't keep doing that. He may be ill, so needs help from his owner or cat rescue. I appreciate that rescue centres are overflowing, but I don't want to expose my own and the neighbours cats to anything infectious .

Have you put notices up around asking if he belongs to anyone. My cat is scruffy looking , i would hate it if someone tried to rehome her without searching for an owner.
Have you thought of taking him to the vets to see if he is Identichipped?

Another neighbour took him to the vet to have a bite abscess treated, so I should think he was checked for a chip then. I have frontlined him for fleas, and scrubbed my sofa and armchair which he anointed.
I will put some notices up, but I don't suppose the owner who doesn't neuter a tom cat would be that bothered. If the neighbour wants to look after him I would gladly pay to have him neutered for everyone's sake. But I don't want to kidnap him!!!

Try putting a collar on him with a note sellotaped around it -asking if he belongs to anyone and contact details- if no response within a reasonable amount of time, it's fairly safe to say he is stray or his owner doesnt deserve to keep him. don't use disinfectant to clean where he's sprayed- it will only attract him to do it again. Use biological washing powder in warm water.

Some people don't neuter male cats , we have plenty round here too but our 2 won't let them in !!! Cats are fickle and like to have many feeding places and adopt various homes lol Goodluck I hope you find his owner and if not i hope he gets a good home
