trentboy2 09-04-2005, 15:17 Me and my grilfreind are moving to Sheffield soon and I will be looking for a decent local once we get settled. I've been living in Poland for quite a while now and all we get is rubbish US hip-hop, cheesy techno and Micheal Bolton. I'm looking for somewhere that plays interesting music preferably funk, soul, breaks etc but isn't pretentious and overpriced. Any suggestions??? Cheers.
DaBouncer 09-04-2005, 15:18 How about www.club-vip.co.uk :D
trentboy2 09-04-2005, 15:20 looks pretentious and it plays rnb thanks any way mate
DaBouncer 09-04-2005, 15:45 Ah... you judge a book by it's cover.
Not to worry! :D
E-Man Groovin 09-04-2005, 20:30 how about Snap! on Wednesdays.. definitely not pretentious, and as for overpriced... depends on how much wonga you've got I guess... see http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30769
trentboy2 10-04-2005, 09:33 Snap sounds like just the sort of thing I'm looking for. Any more like this?
E-Man Groovin 10-04-2005, 18:43 Trentboy, sadly there are too few nights that stray from the norm. It's kinda why we started Snap! in the first place. We just wanted to create the kind of night that we'd want to go to. I think people in Sheff have got used to a diet of funky house. There's nothing wrong with funky house but variety in a diet is a good thing, and Sheffield punters seem strangley to be a bit reticent to try new and different nights. Happily, those who come to Snap really enjoy themselves.
Come along one of these Wednesdays and support those of us who are trying to do something different with Sheffield's nightlife.
Cheers
Pete
p.s. to be fair to DaBouncer, I went down to VIP at Easter and had a great time!

Try The Tuesday Club at Sheffield University Union. This week we have Roni Size, Next week Dj Format and Abdominal, lots of beats and pieces go on and it's open to everyone, not just students.
Also for quality house, breaks and techno go to Urban Gorilla at .Zero every Friday...this week there's Rob Da Bank and Richard Fearless(the guy from death in vegas). It goes from 10pm-6am and has a nice, friendly atmosphere.
trentboy2 11-04-2005, 16:10 like your style clipboard i just love abit of format. cheers everyone else as well. keep em coming.

thanks mate...have to say, i got it slightly wrong...next week we have Foreign Beggars live(winners of best group and best single at the uk hip hop awards) and Homecut Directive (amazing live hip hop/funk band) THEN we have format the week after...look out for Tuesday Club flyers as more good stuff is on its way.
trentboy2 12-04-2005, 16:40 well as it happens I wont be moving to Sheffield for a couple of weeks yet. not to fussed about missing format and ab as much as i love the cuddly pair but it still gives me hope that I wont have to put up with poor quality "hard-core" here in Poland any more.
lovely jubbley
