hi,
I hope you dont mind me posting here but Im considering a career change. I have worked in a special needs school for over 2 years now and Im in the nursery dept. I have current CRB checks I am a university graduate - I studied healing arts with psychology. I am a driver with a car.
My current job involves work with children with complex physical disabilities and behavioural and learning disabilities, I have had the following training in my job:
paediatric first aid
team teach
mackaton sign language
advanced feeding course
gastronomy feeding
is there anyone who would be interested in hiring such a person on a full time basis or could anyone give me an idea of how much a nanny with my experience and training would charge?
thankyou in advance for your help, you can pm me or post here, thanks :)

thanks, I hope it goes well too.
You couldn't legally work as an Ofsted registered childcare worker without the approved qualifications.
To work in someone elses home is a different kettle of fish but brings a lower income since they don't have to be registered.
I don't wish to offend you but I wouldn't employ you as I see Ofsted as an ideals bar and I would want my kids in an Ofsted approved place. Having said that, I worked for a number of years as a nanny in someone elses home and it worked very well but the pay wasn't quite what I was after.
I have no doubt you'd appeal enormously to someone with a child with special needs who needs expertise in some aspects of care but I think a Level 2 or 3 in childcare or playwork would go a long way to giving some confidence in the interim. Unless you already have these since you work in the kind of place which would desire it.
Although childcare and playwork are slowly becoming recognised as quality assurance issues the playing field is not level but Ofsted will hopefully get us there eventually so it would be worth being one of their registered and approved workers.

No Im not intending on working as an ofsted childcare worker, or working from home, I am wanting extra work in the evenings as a baby sitter (at childrens own homes) or during the half term period available all day as a baby sitter/nanny. up until I wish to apply for a place at hallam university for a Post Graduate course in Nursing. Thankyou for your help zebra.
Hmm, well, if you can advertise at the right places you could do well. What about the special needs groups like Ray Of Hope (googleable) and possibly speaking to groups like SNIPS who might be able to recommend you for respite ( as in parents getting out).
You could also speak to SNIPS about working with them for a while, they'll love you regardless of Ofsted less quals.

Pixieguk: I am looking for a regular babysitter for my two kids. We live in Crookes, so not far from you. Might you be interested?
Sounds like you may have a route to follow now but FWIW good old fashioned often nanny's dont have the qualifications a childminder would have and yet still get paid more. We looked at all options but have settled with a nanny. Whilst its a more expensive option (and it is a bit of a squeeze for us) its a wonderful service having someone coming to your home to look after your children. Our nanny is not a registered/qualfied childminder but she has looked after children for years and I have chosen her above many registered childminders. I think there is less of a market for nanny in certain areas these days as childminders are cheaper, but I do still know people who use a nanny as they want someone coming to them and dedicated to looking after their children. good luck
