As you will notice from visiting my website on a remote machine you are asked to install active X in Firefox and it comes up all crappy on IE6?, thing is though looks sweet on mine...why is this..?

BTW, have only been learning bits and bobs about websites so know very little as I have taught myself everything I know...

I don't know enough about website design to be of any assistance BDB but i can give you the link to a very easy to use website creation download site.

Namu6 (http://namu6.com/1392/) is simplicity itself but lacking in features.

What is on your site that requires ActiveX?

That warning will probably put most people off because of fears of spyware and trojans.

TBH I don't really know anything about A-X to answer that question, the only thing I have on there @ the mo is a few jpg's, a few gifs and a the two links (About and Contact us) I created using word art in word then copied & pasted across to paint, worked on them a bit and saved as gif then put on my site...

other than that there is nothing on it...?

You seem to be using a free webhost, the Active X control message you get is an Adware, i have seen it before.

It is delivered by this site: http://windupdates.com/

Consider moving your site to another host...

I use FF, and didn't receive any mention of ActiveX components. Then again, ZAP is set to auto block AX components;).

Hiya,

I'd have to go with what other's have said - I won't install anything I encounter on any web site, and my browsers are set accoridngly.

This is the problem of free hosting - you get lots of unwanted freebies thrown at your visitors, and quite seriously it puts off people from progressing further in to your site.

I'd definitely change hosting as soon as possible.

Joe

Try using XT Host (http://www.xthost.info/index.php?l=c) BDB. It's free, comes with 30gb limit and there's no adverts.
As long as you get 1 hit a week your account is fine.

PS. You can also ask for more GB in the forum as well. I saw someone upped to 250Gb this week.
