Anyone know of the various locations in and around Sheffield where this was filmed?

One part of it was filmed in West Royd on Manchester Rd (the one on the corner of Shore Lane). Don't know which bit because i never went inside the building. It is now private housing and had just stopped being used by the health authority when they filmed.
Wish i had known. I worked in Langhill and Robert Carlise was in the building next door and noone said owt, B*****ds.

The outside of what was supposed to be the Shiregreen Working Mens club was actually filmed at the old Roxy nighclub on Idsworth Road, Sheffield 5 as discussed on this (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10314) thread.

They also showed the general leading from Idsworth Road to Horndean Road too. Yes, they'd walk from Horndean Road, down towards Idsworth Road...and end up at a location on t'other side of Sheffield.

I never did find that warp machine

The bit were lompar tried to commit suicide is up near the ski village, you can even see the slope in one clip.

The bit were gerald throws all the newspapers in the bin is at the top of granville road, interestingly enough, there isn't a bin there in real life.

Apparently they closed the road off and wouldn't let people through! It was filmed while i was at school, as my friend couldn't get home for her dinner!!!

Does anyone know which stretch of the canal that is at the beginning?

The scene at the beginning of the film, where they are balanced on the roof of a submerged car, "borrowing" a piece of steel beam, was filmed on the canal near to Bacon Lane bridge, Attercliffe.

Parts of it were filmed in and around the old Burton Street School in Hillsborough (now the Burton Street Project). The school scenes were filmed here and some of the job club/interview scenes too I think.

The scenes insides Gaz's Flats were filmed at Regent Court Flats in Hillsborough.

Some was also filmed on Langsett Road, outside what was the Primrose Hill Petrol Station (now newly built flats)

There were also some scenes filmed in Ruskin Park too (walkley)

The scene where they play footy to the song 'come up & see me' was on the ( now extinct ) Parkwood College footy pitch. You can see most of Sheffield from up there.

Given that Idsworth Road is a route for ambulances going from Page Hall to the Northern General Hospital, I dread to think how many lives were lost because they had to be rerouted through Fir Vale :D

There used to be a bin there, but someone nicked it not long after the film came out.

The scene in the post office when Nathan is going to draw out his savings for his dad was filmed in the post office on Bellhouse Road.
The woman who served him still works in the post office

The Dole queue dance scene to Donna Summer's "Hot stuff" was filmed in the reception area of the old Burton Street school.

All the bits that were supposed to be from West St job centre were done there as well.

All this talk of the Full Monty.... Hmm, might stick the DVD on while there's typically nothing worthy of my attention on the telly.

Anybody seen this other film set in and around Sheffield about the lads who paint the electricity pylons?

Pete Postlethwaite has a little garden on top of a gas Container at Neepsend!
And he goes to pick up his pay from a guy at the substation round the back of the speedway.
And he and Racheal Griffiths dance naked through the cascading water beneath the Tinsley Cooling Towers.

Very local stuff.

It's a wierd film, but it's good.

I thought the football playing part was on the hills just above Hyde Park flats leading to Skye Edge.
What about any locations from When Saturday Comes...apart from Bramhall Lane and Ward Brewery

Lestat
11-05-2004, 13:23
No, it was the old Parkwood pitch, I remember it well as we used to play up there most weeks, it was a bugger fetching the ball though when someone kicked it down the banking.

At the top you can see right down Langsett road, over hillsborough and the other side is over the city centre. It's behind the ski slopes.

mmm...I'll have to say I still aint sure. For some reason I recall seeing the top of Hyde Park flats with the red cladding outside and you can see down into the train station whereas from Parkwood, town and the train station is far away and to the left...but I could be wrong. Looks like I'll be watching Full Monty tonight..again!!

There's a bit where they're waiting for a bus (I think, not seen it for ages) just outside the school on Carter Knowle Road.

when saturday comes wasn't filmed in Wards brewery but in Cannon brewery on rutland road where proper Stones was brewed! Other places in the film were the bookies above the White Horse on Halifax road and Wentworth house on the 'cliffe.

Full Monty facts

The cast and crew stayed at The Hallam Towers throughout the shoot, which was when I worked there.

Noone ever saw Robert Carlyle - ever
Mark Addy is a very nice bloke - fact
Hugo Speer used to walk round with no shoes on all the time - the manager had to tell him off.

The crew were a great bunch of guys who always used to buy me a beer or seven when I was supposed to be working -   :D

i laughed like a drain at some of the bloopers in the locations in when saturday comes!
ok, so i am sad... and this will not make sense, or matter one jot, to anyone who does not know shaffield, but I am picky!

for example, sb's cahracter and "boxing" trainer do a run along norton, near teh Nailmakers arms (backmoor road area) and turn the corner, and lo and behold, they are in firvale.

The "bedroom" of the flat that SB rents/ borrows off his mate is on the pye bank road maisonettes, (now being demolished) and the room used is actually the living room!

some of the scenes based in and around the restaurant were filmed in sharrow. the lane they walk down is on sitwell road, behind the Mount Pleasant House, and the restaurant I believe is Rossis at the very bottom of sharrow lane.

the bit where SB goes ran-tanning on her door, in desperation, trying to win her back, is filmed at the bottom end of fir-vale.

also, just as a matter of interest, near the very end of the film, where he "scores his goal" @ Bramall Lane, the bit where his dead brother (well, the ghost at least!!) walks into the ground and takes his seat, two of my friends are the extras in that short scene.

You can see examples of the fullmonty jobcentre scene at BSP in their cafe - open to the public - they've got signed stills and the script page on the wall.

Typical of the jobcentre trying to pinch their glory.

Anyone seen the film ID. A lot of the action was filmed in Rotherham

The scene where the kid takes money out of the post office is on Neithershire shops in Shiregreen.
My mate was also in the end crowd when they stripped,, the one in the green dress.

Actually the bit that was supposed to be in West St hellhole (don't ask, long depressing story) was filmed in the old Burton Street School in Hillsborough, they just used outside shots of West St to give the impression it was from there.

The school is a disused one between Langsett Road and Penistone Road; I think it's on or around Burton / Capel Street. You can see it if you drive down Bamforth Street and look to your left.

The club scenes were filmed as Shiregreen WMC.

There was another scene filmed outside a petrol station (now replaced with flats) at Primrose Hill on Langsett Road.

Hope this helps.

I only saw the film once around the time it came out, but because I'm from Hillsborough myself, I remember the bits that were around here.

I guess the flats you refer to are Regent Court; I don't remember them featuring in TFM, but they definately did feature in 'Threads', which was a film about nuclear war set in Sheffield, filmed in about 1983/4. I wonder if that's what you're thinking of?

If it's any use to you, I kow there are a couple of threads about 'Threads' on here.

Robert Carlyle lived in Regent Court flats I think... in the film of course. (Well, I've never seen him in Farm Foods or Wilko).

The bit when he's running after his son, I think he follows him down the Wicker, the straight onto Langsett Road - summat like that anyway. :D

I recently asked this question on another thread, as we're currently walking the canal towpath in stages. Spinney kindly
PMd me to say that the canal scene was filmed in the Tinsley vicinity. We walked as far as The Arena last Sunday, so our next stage should bring us to Tinsley - hope to recognise the place this Sunday we when we resume our walk (weather permitting).

That was the bit I remember outside the petrol station. Still can't remember him living in Regent Court, but there agin it's been a while since I saw it. I'll have to get the DVD out and refresh my memory!
