Never more than a tenner unfortunately, though don't play very often. Andy 08-10-2003, 21:02 The first time I bought a lottery ticket, I got 4 numbers and won £120. I've never bought another ticket since - which I guess makes me one of the very few people to have profited from the lottery Rich 10-10-2003, 22:26 Originally posted by Andy The first time I bought a lottery ticket, I got 4 numbers and won £120. I've won a few tenners, never anything more though, not even on scratchcards. *Twinkle* 11-10-2003, 08:59 Only ever won tenners unfortunately.... Phanerothyme 11-10-2003, 09:27 I have bought about 5 scratchcards in total and have won £20 twice, so I stopped buying. never won a thing on the lottery, rarely if ever play mr craig 11-10-2003, 09:42 Once had five numbers in a works sydicate, work out about £350ish each which was rather good, but if we'd just had that other number......... Andy 11-10-2003, 10:12 My auntie and her friend used to put 50p in each to buy a ticket. They didn't play every week, but when they did, they always used the same numbers. I think you can guess what happened on one of the weeks that they didn't buy a ticket... HappyShopper 11-10-2003, 10:21 One pay day, a number of years ago, me and me mate put £150 each in to buy 300 scratchcards! We thought there was bound to be at least one winning ticket of a reasonable amount in 300. Oh how wrong we were! In return for £300, we got £110 back. Despondant, we went to the beer off and bought copious amounts of British Sherry and got very, very drunk! Needless to say, I felt even more gutted the next morning, and I have never bought a scratchcard since. :loopy: halevan 11-10-2003, 16:49 Originally posted by MARTINO 1 Any one got tonights lottery numbers also any one ever won more than a tenner. If I don't win £5.000.000 soon, I shall refuse to buy another lottery ticket and then they will be sorry to miss my £1 per week!!! Belle 11-10-2003, 19:23 Just wanted to share a few things with you (and use the "J" on my keyboard, to prove that I could LOL) My Grandad, God bless his soul, did the lottery for four weeks, when it began, didnt win and decided he wasnt going to play again. What strength! I dont do it very often, for at least three years I didnt do it even once, but since then I fell from my state of grace and have done it about 40 times. I only found out after 30 random times that there were prizes for less than six out of six, so may have chucked away some winning tickets (but you know I havent because my luck has never worked like that) I only do lucky dips because I have learnt to my peril what happens when you have the same numbers every week and are TERRIFIED of not putting the money on in the very week it matters.... How? I am one of the very tiny few number of people I know that have done the Football Pools for 20 solid years and always used the same numbers, at least until they knocked off about the last half a dozen, I think I had two in there and had to reassign them. I havent won a penny piece in 20 years with the numbers 3, 8, 11, 16, 23, 31, 37, 38, 48 and 49 But as Mum and I do them by Direct Debit we just keep paying the money. And catch me daring to miss a week after a history like that! Mum won £400 back in about 1980 and bought a top-notch maxi system, and about a month ago we won £12 but we werent sure which of us had gotten this huge cheque so we put it towards the next half-years subs x HappyShopper 11-10-2003, 20:30 Originally posted by Lickszz I bet you had some exciting fun opening them all though. The fun soon transcended into a "Oh b*llocks!" kind of feeling, as more and more redundant scratchcards stacked up in the wastepaper basket, and the more silver scratchings covered me mate's carpet! Even my attempts of optimism, as we got down to the last few cards, were half-hearted: "THIS is the one!" and "Nil Disperandum!" resulted in threats of personal injury from me mate!!!!! :loopy: Sidla 11-10-2003, 22:05 I win £2 every week; I don't play :D alchresearch 11-10-2003, 22:09 I've discovered that happiness is not in the pursuit of wealth so don't play. HappyShopper 11-10-2003, 22:54 Originally posted by alchresearch I've discovered that happiness is not in the pursuit of wealth....... Absolutely spot on! It's an old adage, one which I used to pour scorn on when I was younger. However, over the last couple of years, I have realised that it is true. I have enough to get by; if I had more money I would be able to do things that I am not able to do at the moment, but that's okay. I am a lot happier enjoying what I have today, than yearning and striving for something that has never satisfied me in the past anyway. |
