Just wondered if anyone knew where David hails from? I know he's a sheffield lad and unfortunately missed the story on The One Show about where he grew up...
so does anyone know the area or better still the road or even house number?
thanks

He lived in Longley very briefly as a kid ; sounds like he was a bit of a gypsy always flitting about
I heard he used to live in Pitsmoor
2437_SNT 06-06-2008, 16:24 I went to college with his son and went to his house once... in Dore. (1993 ish)

Eric_Collins 06-06-2008, 18:47 Met him at a Jumble sale once when i was a kid.
satman2222 06-06-2008, 19:42 It was Main street Grenoside in the 80's - one of those council semis...........
He lived at Handsworth more recently as well, possibly up to being on the Government.
Frank Sidney 06-06-2008, 20:18 always thought he was originally from grimesthorpe.
Saw him 2 years ago alking his dog on Hall Road Handsworth.

As far as I'm aware he lived in Grenoside (Main Street, near the Red Lion), then Handsworth where he still has a house.
Not sure about before then, but that's going back before the 80'. Can't say he's ever lived in Dore or had a son at college in '93 either. I think his oldest would still have been at secondary.
Not sure, but his nephew was my gaffer at the jobcentre (Darren Blunkett), top lad.
saw him outside a nice house in millhouses (silverdale) recently :suspect:
Not sure where he hails from but he defo lives in Handsworth now...:)

I think he still does live at handsworth he did up to last year

wolfstalin 07-06-2008, 01:49 Blanket currently lives on the Chatworth estate and used to live at Wirlowdale when he became leader of the council, latterly at the entrance to longly park in a small row of cottages.
I heard he used to live in Pitsmoor
think he had his campaign office in Pitsmoor at a place called the Ashram House?
Bayern Blade 07-06-2008, 12:26 Before he moved to Main street in Grenoside he lived just around the corner from us on Grenfolds Road (also in Greno),I met him many times when he was Council leader as he was often visiting the home of David Jackson, then a great mate of mine, who's mum Helen later also became a labour MP.
As I am at the complete opposite end of political opinion to Blunkett I can remember a few arguments with him!
David Blunkett lived in a beautiful period cottage on Main Street, Grenoside during the 80s. His wife and sons lived there after their divorce.
David went to live at Handsworth.
He also has a cottage in Derbyshire somewhere near Chatsworth.
David Blunkett was on a series of programs called 'The House Where I Grew Up' on the BBC's The One Show.
He went back to the house where he was brought up and the views of the area showed the Hillsborough Stadium so I would presume it would be Pollard Crescent.
I've a great deal of respect for him, his wife & lads were members of Grenoside library when I worked there & his lads went to school with my kids. He's dead unassuming.
Top Man ...........

Don't forget his cottage on the Chatsworth estate!
I remember about 1983, I used to take the 80 from High Green every morning and he and his dog would get on at Grenoside.
Anyway, one day he got on and sat next to me and his dog laid on my foot all the way to town, I remember cursing him and the dog as I walked through town on my way to work because my foot was totally alseep.
He definitely lived on Pollard Crescent in the early seventies and a recent documentary showed him going back to the house which is obviously now occupied by someone else.
