Has the area of Sheffield you live in ever had it's moment of fame?

The No1 Bakery on Owler Lane was on 'The thin Blue Line' ( I think the name is correct ) a BBC1 police drama. The police were banging on the door before breaking in. I remember standing just behind the camera's as they filmed it.

Also, The old Club Just off Firth Park Road was where people where queueing up in 'The Full Monty'. Where they first tell the girls it will be 'THE FULL' Monty!:P

my car was once on look north!!

It was parked in my company's car park and for some unknown reason, on a snowy day in sheffield, they decided to film a 'snowy street view' for that night news.

I nearly spit me tea out when I saw it!!

There is the famous Full Monty scene where the old guy buys all the newspapers and drops them in the bin outside the old newsagents at the top of Granville Road with the view down the road and over town (shop now changed to something else!)

I lived for years round Hunter's Bar and where Frog Walk leaves the end of Cemetery Avenue , it drops down to a little bridge , going over the River Porter.
They filmed a scene on that part of Frog Walk for a programme whose name I've forgotten but most of the outdoor scenes were shot in Sheffield , 'cos the programme was set in Sheffield.
Its main character was "Uncle Morse" and his nephew , Brandon. The actress who plays the Grandma in "The Royle Family " was in it too : great actress. It was comedy with a touch of sadness , based round the idea of the new thrusting Sheffielders [ Brandon's wife ] and the old Sheffielders with pipe , allotment and gloomy pubs. Based on a couple of books by Peter Tinniswood who , I think, used to write for the Star or the old Telegraph ?

My kids were at Meadowhall yesterday and said that there were a lot of TV Cameras there from BBC3.

Apparantly they had turned the oasis into something looking like a Casino and had people dressed in Dinner Jackets and dresses!

Anyone else see this or are my kids pulling my leg?

Our area, Middlewood, specifically the hospital grounds was used for the majority of episode 1 of "The Last Train" which I have on video, I actually walked through the set that they created after they had left to continue filming elsewhere, there was burnt out cars and buses with dummies representing dead bodies in them and blood on the road, very haunting, especially with the fake building fronts, looked like a proper village.

Does anyone remeber a police drama set in Sheffield a few years ago? What was it called?

Lestat

More probably 'Out of the blue'

"The thin blue line" was the Rowan Atkinson/Ben Elton "comedy" series.

They filmed some of it near where I was living at the time, namely Kenninghall Drive and the Horse and Lion.

It was a top series.

Yes, not in a good way at all though.
A baby was found in the woods behind my house and it turned out a young girl had had a stillborn baby and didn't know what to do with it. It was horrible.
