Mainly movies, I guess, although most film musicals have had a stage production first.

1. West Side Story
2. South Park - BLU
3. Dancer in the Dark
I would have voted for West Side Story in Channel 4's poll (http://www.channel4.com/film/newsfeatures/microsites/M/musicals/index.html), but you have to pick 10 musicals and I don't think I've seen that many.

Sorry Jamie - you're disqualified - none of these is in the Musical genre:)

I used http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/ as my reference.

ps. despite 'Moon River' being a great ballad.

Yup,
West Side Story, "When you're a Jet...."
Carousel, "when you walk through a storm hold your head up high"
Oklahoma, "when the wind comes right behind the rain"

My mum and I used to be in Croft House Operatic Society. She sang in the chorus and I was a dancer. I was also in Roses Operatic and she was in Teachers for over 25 years. We did a lot of great shows.

I was going to say that I absolutely hate musicals, but I wake up to Sarah Kennedy on R2 and she has been playing showtunes at 7.15 for the last few weeks and there has been a few I like.

Only two though:

Singin' In The Rain
Bugsy Malone

What is this ******? - when on other posts:b*gger, etc, without the asterisk, is acceptable, yet, a play on words, from 'Wonker' to 'W*nker' is blanked-out.

Pure discrimination on a perfectly acceptable word, currently in English usage.

Hello Mr High School Teacher, may I hug you for your humour?

I didnt think the Jesus in sandals joke was a Nazi joke, I thought it was a pro-christian joke, but you are at liberty to see it as such if you like.

Wait till you get me on my pro-Geordie joke, mind you that one only works IRL so you will have to meet me first so that I can tell it to you in the flesh.

I adored Spring Time in Germany, but not because, as you very well know, I am pro-Nazis but because I am pro delicious irony.

And this board, this Forum, gives me some really wonderful and delightful opportunities to both read and occasionally offer the best ironies the world has to offer

All hail to Sheffielders, past and present, for the pleasures they bring

x
