Preacher Man 05-06-2008, 11:10 PM I looked and the last time this was asked it was last year, and things change quickly!
I want to treat my girlfriend on saturday so i am looking for a really nice place to take her to. money is no object, well ok maybe £150 limit for meal and wine.
Where is the best place to go, any suggestions?
im hoping to take her somewhere she can dress up so she feels all glamorous :)
Venables 05-06-2008, 11:19 PM That great chippy on Gwladys street. You know which one. ;)
Preacher Man 05-06-2008, 11:57 PM i do indeed but its a bit far to go, besides if im going that far theres a great chippy just on queens drive by the ship roads in walton.

You'll get change from your £150 at Marco's too.
Unless you want a NIIIIIICE bottle of wine.
ElectricPop 06-06-2008, 11:31 AM Why not take her to somewhere that sold tapas or sushi.
boutiquechoc 06-06-2008, 11:34 AM The old vicarage in Ridgeway is my favorite rest!
Beautiful surroundings and for a summers eve out it's lovely....you can be all dressed up, the wine list is super, the food is totally and utterly fab!: I am selling it arn't I! I think you'd have a lovely time there.
Preacher Man 06-06-2008, 11:58 AM i think its down to the old vicerage or marcos. im leaning towards marcos because looking at the old vicarage, the price will top £200 when i factor in taxis and drinks..
Why not do a champagne stopover at the staindrop lodge?
£130 for an evening meal with wine, a bottle of champagne for your room which has a jacuzzi in it, and then breakfast!
Preacher Man 06-06-2008, 12:55 PM i was very tempted by the champagne stopover but the jacuzzi's are only a little bit bigger than a bath so not really luxurious enough..
willman 06-06-2008, 01:06 PM Blue Room - nice grub, Chateau Neuf De Pape(sp).
samesame monkey 06-06-2008, 01:13 PM Marco@Milano is fantastic! I wish I could afford to eat there :( Marco is a really nice guy as well
Blue Rooms is also nice, I'd recommend either of those...
Baggio10 07-06-2008, 03:20 PM You can afford Marco@Milano they do a fixed price menu Tuesday to Friday all night £15 two courses or £20 three courses.
Have you heard Marco@Milano have won the Westside Restaurant of the year award 2008. In my opinion well deserved.:)
medicgirl 08-06-2008, 02:49 AM The Milestone at Kelham Island is really nice food and the upstairs restaurant is smartish so you can dress up. Same for Artisan at Crosspool. I'd love to be able to recommend places like the Old Vicarage but sadly not yet had the opportunity to go :(
Preacher Man 08-06-2008, 12:27 PM ended up going to marcos, it was very nice and not that expensive, about £120 but we were too full for desert..
i wasnt blown away by it though.

Never heard of this place before: You/anyone visited/stayed over? is it nice?
I went to Portofino on Chesterfield Rd, (next to Ponsfords), last friday night. Food was fantastic, my OH had fillet steak with a Jack Daniels sauce, and i had Pasta with chicken, Mushrooms and Tomato. He had two Bottles of beer and we Had a giant tomato garlic bread as a starter, absolutely delicious. Came to about 30 quid as were too full for desert and im not a big drinker when eating a meal.
Definately reccomend this place, its also usually quite quiet as its a bit out of the way, but don't let it put you off, it really is delicious!
