Like Pine nuts, for example, if indeed they aren't from the Pine tree, which I suspect they arent. Are there any other items hiding under names that they shouldn't?

Pine nuts do indeed come from Pine trees.

Mostly Pinus pinea - Stone Pine in Europe and Pinus edulis - Pinyon Pine in America.
