whats your version of open minded tho?
I class myself as openminded but i definitely don't like rap.
can you define your tastes a little bit more, then we'll know what to suggest for you.

Great Thread! Im looking for new music for exactly the same reason (the biggest problem with the Ipod is filling it!).

5 albums I listen to quite a lot:

Kasabian : Kasabian
Groove Armada: Best of (You might think you haven't heard anything by these. but you will have!)
Black Eyed Peas : Elephunk
Damien Rice: O (Lisa Hannigans voice is amazing)
Tidy Trax : Tidy Vision Album (nothing like hardhouse to wake you up in the morning)

Panda,
If you like Miles Davis' Bitches Brew, why not put on these other classic Miles recordings.

1] Pangaea [double album]

2] Agharta [double album]

3] Get Up With It [double album, contains an amazing, slow track called, 'He Loved Him Madly'- a forerunner of ambient music. Brian Eno is a big fan.]

4] Miles Smiles- Davis's favourite of his classic sixties stuff with Tony Williams, Wayne Shorter etc.

5] ESP - more 60s stuff with the above. It has been called 'Black American Chamber Music'.

Glad to see you have good taste.

Five albums I like at the moment:

LCD Soundsystem

Catch-22 - Keasby Nights

The Kleptones - A Night at the Nip Hopera (mix of Queen songs with hip hop over the top. It's fantastic)

Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals

Sublime - 40 Oz to Freedom

My top 5 would be:

1. The Music - The Music

2. Oasis - Definitely Maybe

3. Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle

4. The Stone Roses - The Complete Stone Roses

5. Kanye West - College Dropout

Those are the 5 I usually have in the car. I dont own an Ipod yet as I got a Creative 128mb MP3 player for free and can't justify just throwing it away and paying £200 more for something that looks nicer and holds more songs but does the same thing.

I would probably go with some combination of:

Sex Pistols -> The Great Rock N Roll Swindle
Sneaker Pimps -> Becoming X
Cake -> Comfort Eagle and/or Fashion Nugget
Curve -> Come Clean
Morcheba -> Big Calm
Butthole Surfers -> Electriclarryland
Big Black -> Songs About F*cking
The Prodigy -> The Fat Of The Land
Rage Against The Machine -> Rage Against The Machine
System Of A Down -> System Of A Down
Bad Religion -> Stranger Than Fiction
Dropkick Murphys -> Sing Loud Sing Proud

:o and how could I have forgotten some Blondie! Plastic Letters, Eat To The Beat or maybe Autoamerican!

The last five albums i listened to were; Sgt Peppers - Beatles, Five Leaves Left - Nick Drake, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb - U2, Eric Bibb And Friends - Eric Bibb, In Search Of The Lost Chord - Moody Blues. I think two of the above were in Channel 4's top 100 Albums programme last week.

Its hard for me to pick just 5, but ive got a few ideas for you, (although it all depends on what you enjoy listening to):

1. Outkast - Speakerboxxx / The Love Below. There's pretty much something for everyone on this double album.
2. Dr Dre - The Chronic. Classic laid back California.
3. De La Soul - The Best Of. Solid collection, perfect for summer.
4. MJ Cole - Sincere. Has some good club and chillout tracks.
5. Gangstarr - The Ownerz. Great beats and rhymes from beginning to end.
