Can you remember your first T shirt which proclaimed your taste in pop music? Maybe it was a Choose Life affair or a Frankie Says..., one from 1984. Did you have a Duran Duran T shirt, John Taylor perhaps, or an Adam And The Ants one?

Maybe you weren't a fan of pop so bought an impressive Iron Maiden shirt (great drawings; shame about the music). Or like Slimsid2000, did you buy a lovely Shakin' Stevens shirt from HMV for £4.99?

Well mine was an Altered Images one, bought in 1982. Strangely, there was no picture of the delightful Clare Grogan (the posters were on my bedroom walls though) but a bit of squiggly writing saying I Could Be Happy. I was in form Y2 at KES at this time and uniform was no longer compulsory.

How I strutted my stuff in that T shirt the first time I wore it to school. I was a changed man - 'look, Altered Images, cool or what?'

Of course, it wasn't cool and I looked a bit of a nob but so what? This was ME, me, me! And this was my group, my taste and..how I wished..my little Clare Grogan.

Stories please.

As an eight-year-old, I had a Michael Jackson t-shirt. It was one of those that they used to print 'while you wait' at the seaside. Funnily enough, I got an Iron Maiden one shortly after because I liked the design! I think it might have been Fear of the Dark or something.

I never had a pop group t shirt! Although I remember a friend buying a bright green puffa jacket cos it looked like one worn in the spice girls movie...

I didnt have a t shirt, although i was in a gang of lads when i was younger who dressed up a bit like NWA, i.e all black, with LA Raiders caps. We used to sit round Gav's car (he was older, see) and play 'Straight Outta Compton' whilst smoking joints.

This was in Maids Moreton park, Buckingham, Bucks. Quite leafy.

Actually thats not entirely true, cos there was another tape that Gav had. It was a Dolly Parton greatest hits, although it was just that 'Jolene' tune he'd insist on playing. Wierd.

We should've capped 'im. And made off in his Fiesta 1.4s. They'd have never caught us.

I did have a Choose life one and a Frankie says relax one but neither were Catherine Hamnett ones, they were both Rotherham market!

First band t-shirt was probably my Housemartins one that i still have - but would not get my ankle in, it's so tiny! It's very cool and is in my wardrobe depths somewhere.

Remember the Inspiral carpets t-shirts with the cows on and the James ones with the flowers? :D

I liked badges tbh, they were much cheaper and could be acquired from Smash Hits or the forementioned Roth market. I thought I'd practically got engaged to this boy at school when i was 11 as he gave me his prized Madness badge.

My four year old daughter insisted on having an Iron Maiden shirt so she 'could do rock and roll*' with me when she went on holiday the other week .......

I think my first music shirt was a generic AC/DC shirt, but my first tour shirt was Megadeth on the "So Far, So Good, So What?" tour.

I think.

*this was a couple of weeks after she decided to air drum to Argent, Maiden and Judas Priest while I was listening to Planet Rock one evening ......

Yeah! I had a knock-off Frankie t-shirt too! :D And I had one of those Inspirals ones, black with the mad cow and Cool As Feff on it. I remember coming in hammered one night and trying to make a brew and keep my jacket shut at the same time (being drunk, I forgot about it having buttons ;)) so my mum didn't see the t-shirt! :D

The best shirt was my mate's World Of Twist one that was made to look like a packet of Consulate fags.
