The home button beside the power button. How do I change the function of this button? Thanks for your help.

I think the buttons are configurable as they are run by software and not hardware coded. Open the Dell software installed on your PC and you should be able to find where you can change the function.

If you cant, I would check the Dell forums as most questions have already been answered there.

I love it mate. This home button is a bit gay but other than that it is cool. I went for 4GB memory and a built-in webcam. I guess it depends on what you are looking for but I am pleased.

Nice one mate, I have only got it for work and internet so gone for 2gb memory & 160gb hard drive but with free fall sensor. Which processor have you gone for?

Quickset is the software used to manage all the features of most Dell PC's. It does come with your model and should be preinstalled. If not it will be on your driver disk.

Thank you serapis. I will look into this and reply here with my findings.

Hello again Danny_Boy! What is the free fall sensor? I have Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz. I did not upgrade what was offered there. I am also not bothered about hard drive size as I am getting an external and formatting this regularly. Reviews said the graphics card was a bit slow so I will keep an eye on that. Reviews say boot time is fast and it is. I love the appearance. It is my first time using Vista. I am not delighted that a laptop's battery life is so poor and I will get a spare soon. I hate this gay button as I said. I like plain things. I do not need Dell of Microsoft to make my life easier with extra tacky buttons or 'wizards'.

What colour did you go for? I went for black as I thought I would live to regret anything else. I might be able to buy other colours on eBay anyway!

serapis I have found a list of hotkeys and what they do but there is no sign of this button and no sign of any opportunity to edit any functions... please help me some more if you can.

It arrived this morning but I haven't had chance to play on it yet I went for Midnight Blue which looks pretty good to be honest I also got a nylon carry case which is pretty impressive as far as carry cases go. I have the 1.83 processor as well. The hard drive spins faster I think at 72000 rather than 52000 and the free fall sensor I think protects the hard drive if its knocked. The build quality is excellent but like I say I haven't had chance to play yet so no idea what all the buttons do but no doubt it will be fun finding out.

Worth a try I suppose, have a nosey to see if there's a setting here:

Start-Settings-Control Panel-Display-Screen Saver Tab-Power Button-Advanced Tab

Do you see the home button I hate? Any ideas on how to change it?

I do love mine.

I found the covers on eBay. I wonder how easy it is to change them? I want blue, green and yellow. What is the finish like on yours? Mine is matte.

I decided to get my own case, one I could choose when I have it in my hand. Most cases come with so many bloody pockets they bug me. I have a simple sleeve for now.

:)

The Blue is supposed to be a micro satin finish whatever that means but it just looks like matte dark blue to be honest its smart enough though and suppose it gives it a little bit of individuality re changing the covers I wouldn't have a clue but it would be nice to be able to change them every so often, I think the Green looks quite nice and no doubt my other half will be after a pink one no matter how many times I try to explain its mine for work lol. I don't mind the home button as I just ignore it tbh, its the first time I have used Vista and after mixed reports I think its pretty good tbh.

Vista is grand.

I mailed the seller on eBay and he said changing the covers is not the easiest thing to do. Yes I do like that green.

I bought 3 mobile broadband.

I want to find out how to alter this bloody button. I am losing sleep over it!
