I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop & currently it is 1gig of memory in it, apparently this is the maximum for this laptop, really for me it's not enough, i would like 1.5gig or 2gig, if i were to put in 2 sticks of 1gig memory then what would happen?

The laptop may only accept 512MB SODIMMs, 2x512MB = 1GB as the max size.

Attempting to use 1GB SODIMM's will most probably result in the laptop not posting?

yep try and stick more than 1 gig in and it will either not boot or will only see 1gig regardless of what is installed

I play a few games that chew up quite a fair bit of memory and could do with at least another 512mb.

surprised you can play any games that use that much memory considering the onboard graphics

only thing you can do is see if there is anything running that doesn't need to be to free up some ram
