Has anyone done the beginner electrician course at NECTA in Rotherham? If so what do you think of it? I was browsing the net for local colleges etc when I came across this article:
www.thestar.co.uk/business/Training-spark-for-electricians.4044446.jp (sorry not sure how to turn that into a proper link!)
I'm a bit sceptical about intensive courses but would consider it if anyone had any recommendations?!!

Thanks do you know if they've got a website? And do they arrange work placements etc or is that up to the student? I've heard that's the most difficult bit!

there are no placements around ... anywhere.....
all the major building companies are laying staff off, selling there land reserves and generally slowing down...
construction really is not the route to go at the minute unless you can fund your selves.
arena training is a electrical college were you pay your fees and take a course. the rest is up to you ..

Kind of going away from my usual trade area here.
This seems to be the problem with lots of qualifications (fitness included) that you can get the qualification, generally at great expense, however the real problem is getting work experience.
Good luck though arachnophobe

REALLY wish I'd had the courage to take the plunge a few years ago, when the industry was crying out for skilled tradesmen! Bah. But better late than never!
