I've been having great difficulty burning CDs on my laptop recently. I'm trying to burn some music through iTunes (I have to use iTunes because the music is bought from the iTunes Music Store) and everytime I try to burn I keep getting an error message. Is it because of the CDs I'm trying to use? At the moment I'm using some Sony CD-R 700Mb 1x-48x compatibles. My laptop is about 2 years old.
Within iTunes preferences are you trying to burn and audio, MP3 or data CD? Also, what does the error message say?

Fantastic Phil - thanks very much, will try that when I go home this evening. It must be because I have the Sony CDRW/DVD combi drive in my HP laptop.

I think it is more along the lines that iTunes in general is pathetic. eg. i have an iPod, therefore i have to use it, however the file that is responsible for controlling the iPod and what goes on it has become corrupt. This a fault of iTunes and not the iPod as the iPod will work perfectly on another computer. A tip in future would be to go and buy songs through windows media player 10.
I think it is more along the lines that iTunes in general is pathetic I find it very good in fact.and expensive. it's free.i have an iPod, therefore i have to use it you don't have to use iTunes to transfer music to/from an iPod.This a fault of iTunes so you've ruled out a problem with your PC then? How?A tip in future would be to go and buy songs through windows media player 10 Isn't that going to be WMA format which would need decompressing/recompressing to another format to be iPod compatible?

Firstly, I hate iTunes because there are other media players that are easier to use and more compatable with windows, WMP10

Thirdly, I havent tried other types of software as the laptop is on the SYP network and iTunes was only added at the last minuite for a holiday to New York. I have also had similar problems with iTunes on my home PC.

The laptop in question is brand new and has just been thoroughly serviced by the manufacturer. The PC is also relatively new and has no other problems

And finally the thread is about burning CD's and it is just as easy to do this using Windows Media Player. However, you would be right in saying that they would be downloaded in WMA format and would more than likely be protected. However, I use WMP9 as it seems better for streaming progrmmes like 3pm football matches. No comment on where I get the music from, however before anyone says, it is not over the internet / P2P
