I've got a fair few favorites website in my browser and 2/3rd are not working today. I've got about 60 saved and only about 20 work.

Just had a look at those two examples and both domains are handled by ev1servers.net's name servers.

Looked a bit more in to it and the networks that those name servers are on (ns1.ev1servers.net, ns5.ev1servers.net, ns6.ev1servers.net) don't appear to be advertising their BGP routes so basically it looks like they've screwed their routing up and no one can get any traffic to them.

If you whois the domains of the other sites you can't get on to you'll probably find they or their name servers are on the same networks as those above.

you'll probably find they or their name servers are on the same networks as those above.

Someone has made a "bit of a boob" with the DNS entries:D

BTW.. ns2.ev1servers.net is also affected.. So I'd guess that the entire DNS entries for ev1servers.net to be affected also (infact http://www.ev1servers.net/ fails to resolve too):(.

Maybe someone should get in touch with the server admin @ ThePlanet (http://www.theplanet.com/) as they own ev1.

ns2.ev1servers.net points to the same IP as ns1.ev1servers.net - that's why I missed it out :)

It's not the DNS entries that are screwed, they're not advertising the BGP routes for the networks.

216.40.192.0/18
207.218.192.0/18

Neither have any routes on BGP looking glasses. Hence no one can route traffic in to them.

A quick Google brings up other times where they've fell off the Internet as well...

Looks like The Planet has lost a data centre, oops.

I haven't been able to log into the DSA forum for the airport all day.

There is definitely something amiss.

Muddy - airport.proboards54.com is hosted by The Planet and one of their main data centres has had an explosion. They're a massive hosting company so it's going to affect a lot of people....
