Any pics from todays (small) meet up to share?

Here's a few of mine

That red beetle was cause for me to go running about an area of garden chasing it with camera+tripod waiting for it to land. Must have looked daft!

I hope you'll agree the messing about by the river was worth it for the 'one in a million' shot ;)

Oops! didn't see this thread Dafoot - I've posted in the old one. Anyway, havn't had time to look at my photos yet, I've been out all night & will be out all day today. What can I say about your photos? Wow!!! Can't match those I'm afraid - but at least they're not in a monthly competition, thank goodness!:hihi:

Hold on a bit DaFoot! there happened to be a pair of daft buggers chasing a red flying beetle around Beauchief Gardens, the other one was me.
Not to mention about when it landed on my T-shirt and you asked me to stand still and do a tree impersonation,
'just so you could get some decent shots' :D
I'm reasonably happy with this shot of the Cardinal Beetle (http://www.sheffieldphotos.com/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4529)
but not to impressed with my other photos (http://www.sheffieldphotos.com/main.php?g2_itemId=4528)
But had a great day out and was nice to meet ..
Green Veggie and Co and also Djelibebi, for the first time.
Must say thanks to Djelibebi for buying me a bottle of water from the caffe,
just so I didn't drink the river water .. (Its a long story)
m&p :)

My photos are rubbish this month - wasn't inspired in the least. Didn't go to Industrial Hamlet where I might have been more inspired - so missed the beetle chase! Still, my miserable attempts are here (http://picasaweb.google.com/paulinezel/MillhousesParkPhotoMeet31stMay2008)

Okay, I'll concede on the dandelion shot. It's a doozy, but watching you perform with the tripod splayed to see if you were going to fall backwards into the river had it's own entertainment value! :hihi:

Those photos are incredible, DaFoot, and you have an incredible eye for a shot!

You're most welcome for the bottle of water! I wasn't about to let you drink out of the river like Pippo was doing! :hihi:

Those photos are amazing!

They're NOT miserable attempts! I really like them, especially the one of the tree stump growing out of the river wall.

Those ones of Pippo came out really well too! I've not uploaded mine to my laptop yet.

Okey spokey dokey......

here are my efforts from Saturday: 31/5/08 - Millhouses Park (http://community.webshots.com/album/563662169TeJLsz?vhost=community)

Out of them all, I'm really pleased with maybe two of them......then again, I'm going to be kind to myself as I was still exhausted from my jaunt to Wales and back on the Thursday!

Well, I think the prize for best dandalion has to go Dafoot, the prize for best bug (sorry Dafoot, you can't have ALL the prizes!) goes to Me & Pippo, the best lush green prize goes to Djelibeybi & the booby prize obviously goes to yours truly!!

I think you're being a bit hard on yourself, Hemlock. Your pics of Pippo in particular were excellent - tho I thought that turning some to b&w was a mistake since the colour was the main thing that differentiated Pippo from the grassy background.

Must say tho - you all seem to have gone macro-mad. Wasn't there anything bigger to photograph in the industrial hamlet? The tilt hammer pics from me-and-pippo looked good, and I saw a pile of pipes, end on, in a corner in one pic that surely must have been worthy of a bit of card space.

ImpInaBox, it was just DaFoot and myself who ventured further upstream to the industrial hamlet and beyond, after the others had left.
And it doesn't open Saturdays, so we were pointing our cameras over/between the entrance gate.

Opening Times (all year):
Monday to Thursday 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
Sunday 11.00 am to 4.45 pm
(closed Friday and Saturday)
m&p :)

Hemlock and Alberto headed back to meet up with Green Veggie and Baby Green Veggie. I headed back as I was still shattered after the week's activities. I really wanted to keep going with Me-And-Pippo and DaFoot, but I was having trouble putting one foot infront of the other!

The biggest problem in the first section of the park was the vast quantities of families and children. We were dead worried about being chased by angry parents and being accused of being perverts or something! I found it easier just to concentrate on macro shots where I could, but really found my one and only lens a bit limiting.

It was a brilliant afternoon though!

....best lush green prize, eh? Let's hear it for the Pentax Photo Lab software for enhancing my piccies! :hihi:

I agree that you're being too hard on yourself, Hemlock. I think your macro shots in particular are better than mine......but just you wait til I get used to my equipment and I'll give you a run for your money, lass! :hihi:
