How to access the internet via your standard Microsoft Calculator or HELP menu
When your browser(s) is/are messed up for some unexplainable reason

1. Open your MS Calculator. This is normally found in Start => All Programs => Accessories => Calculator. (If using "HELP" (start/help) skip to 3)
2. Open the help-window by pressing the F1 key.
3. Click the top-left corner icon of the help window once (Standard is a Document with a Questionmark).
4. Select Go to URL-address. (Or "Jump to URL")
5. Type your address into the avaliable field, but remember to type http:// and not just www. (or equivalent).(After the first entry you can just use 'WWW')
6. Have fun! :D

Unless you use IE and it's broken, because the Help program uses IE.

Quite :) The HTML Help application built into Windows embeds chunks of IE to display the HTML pages. So if IE is broken, HTML Help probably is as well.

It works from other things too such as Notepad or MSPaint, doesnt have to be calculator..

I have known this 'trick' for a while, but you have to be careful as it often doesnt bypass proxy settings (most of the time it does, but not all the time) so while its effectively a "safe mode" IE (no mods/plugins etc) it can still some times not work as a result of proxy settings. It also takes into account IE security settings.

but this often works when IE doesnt, because of it being s sort of "safe mode" ;)
