Chris Moyles is set to replace Sara Cox on the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show. Personally I don't listen to the show, but I've never been a big fan of Sara Cox and it surprises me it's taken the BBC this long to replace her.

Anyway, I just saw this as "breaking news" and thought I should share it with anyone who cares :P

You listening to Mark N Lard too? lol

Used to listen to Radio 1 breakfast show until Sara Cox took over. Can't stand her.
Don't like Moyles either. He's a Leeds fan. Spit.

Where did you read this info, Geoff?

It's on Ananova too.

Sara Cox news (http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_826698.html?menu=)

I thought S Cox had been on Radio 1 and taken off before. Isn't it all a bit incestuous the way they all swap round?

It was on their LATEST: ticker at http://news.bbc.co.uk but they have now published the story which you can find at:

PS. I just went and found that for you, you lazy so and so  :P

Yeah, what are we, human googles?

When asked about it Moyles said: "I am really chuffed - I've said for ages that I am the saviour of Radio 1, now it looks I am finally going to have the chance to prove it!"

Cheeky git

Sara Cox news (http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_826698.html?menu=)Interesting to see the difference in style between the BBC's own report and Ananova. For example the BBC didn't mention that "The station recently saw its audience slip below 10 million for the first time." or see any relevance in the fact "Johnny Vaughan was recently unveiled as the new Breakfast Show host for London station Capital FM."

So much for the quality of BBC reporting :P

Excellent choice, as most people will know I'm a big fan of Chris Moyles. However, I'm not particularly happy about this because I don't generally get up until after 10 am. Still, it could stop me being a lazy git.

They are extremely biased if it isn't in their favour, especially concerning radio and TOTP.

On the Radio 2 website there was a messageboard, not unlike this. All presenters had their own. But the Steve Wright one used to get some right abuse about his "smashie and nicey" style, so they pulled it!

Don't rate her at all, can't see what talent she has, nothing special, just another girl on tv.

Thank goodness the little scrubber is going.

She's the slapper who was arguably the catalyst for ladette culture (thanks to the dreadful Girlie Show on C4).

No wonder people are switching off - She sounds like a reight Northern Trollop 'n all.

(a hint of irony for you all there ;) )

Now, given that she's ready to sue at the drop of a hat (more so after a public apology), I will fully understand if our Mods remove this post (or even the whole thread)

I listen to Chris Moyles most days as its usually on at a convenient time ie driving home but i put it on when im at home too hes a good DJ, good to listen to and makes people laugh (most of the time.) I dont listen to Coxy her voice annoys me so i listen to Big John on Hallam which ive sort of got used to now but i will be switching to radio 1 for moyles when he starts. I think 3-6 is a more prime time for him to be on mind. What will he do when hes been out the night before it will kill him. Did it mention who is filling in his space on 3-6?

I can't imagine who it could be. R1 have had roughly the same line up of DJs since the mid 90's and don't have anyone new whos good.

Moving Mark and Lard from 10pm to the afternoon was pure genius. If only they would let them choose their own playlist - although hearing them slag off the current music scene is hilarious!

mark and lard are the weirdest DJs ever. Ive listened to them on and off for a couple of years now and i still find them funny but its a shame they got rid of the cheesily cheerful chart challenge and then the son of cheesily cos i dont think great moments in pop is as good.

Moving mark and Lard to the afternoons killed them completely!!! They were much funnier after the watershed, when they could play what they wanted and take the **** properly! If you remember, they got moved to the breakfast show too, before their current 1pm slot. They were also rubbish at breakfast, as, unfortunatley, I believe Chris Moyles will be. Sara Cox was ok, her taste in music was better than most, but her voice and inane sense of humour was really very irritating. I think Radio 1 one needs some new blood... I'd suggest myself, but it's been 3 years since i did a breakfast show!!! (Rant ends)

Who would you choose to do the breakfast show?

I think it's have to be scott mills from my point of view, cos the others are all ****e (unless you start moving the late night djs around, but then they can't play what they want...)

He used to do early breakfast, so he'll be used to it.

My first choice for breakfast would have been Scott Mills, when he fills in for Sara it's very funny. I can't imagine what the Radio 1 bosses were thinking of when they employed Cox though, she's got the most annoying voice I've ever heard.

This decision isn't very popular at chrismoyles.net: http://pod-135.dolphin-server.co.uk/~chris/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6885

Yeah but he wasn't as big or 'showbizzy' back then. I don't image the graveyard shift presenters get invited out very often because they are unknowns.

I remember her from that terrible Girly show too. I've always regarded her as a gob****e with no talent. I couldn't believe it when she somehow managed to land a job on Radio 1.

I like S.C. - you can take her two way, as really annoying or a really good laff.
I used to hate her with a vengeance but one day she got me laughing and I've always liked here since then.

She's cool - she presents a very demanding radio show with ease and stamps it with her own, no messing style.

I used to hate Moyles too, but have sort of swung round in his favour too. He's a bit of a tw*t sometimes, but he's a funny one.

All said though, I'd still rather listen to Ms Cox first thing in the morning than the Moyles.

They should replace her with Peter Kaye. He was on Mark and Lard's show once and it was truly hilarious.

Can't stand Sara Cox, really annoying woman, and she caused me to swap channels, and Chris Moyles isn't much better.
Sorry radio 1 but i've gone over to radio 2 and find it much better. Terry in the morning is v funny and he plays some good music. Maybe i'm just getting old. :(

well I have listened to the r1 breakfast show all through my teens and early 20s (now 23) and now has come the day that I have finally switched over to r2 (would be 6music if could afford a digital radio). reason being that i really can't stand chris moyles, even after putting up with the likes of zoe ball and sara cox.

they should put mark & lard back on at 10, those days were great!

good to hear that no one esle likes Sara Cox. I am shocked that she has lasted this long and even more bemused as to why the BBC would put her on on the afternoon. She should have been sacked, she is rubish and very annoying. A gerbil would be more entertaining...

Now that they've 'made the swap' I have to say I'm predictably dissapointed. Chris Moyles in the morning is as terrible as I thought he would be, at least when Sarah was on there was more music, now all you get is talking. Not right at that time of day, you need music early on and talking later (after lunch)... maybe we could all do a petition, you know - "people of sheffield, unite against your audio oppressors...!!"

i havent been listening to the morning show cos big john on hallam fm is what i listen to and wouldnt change to moyles even though i used to listen to him in the afternoon.
Sarah Cox doesnt play bad music but she is rather annoying and her inter-song chat is rubbish.

Please, someone agree with me ... with the exception of Dido R1 don't play any music. Just loads of whiny r n b crap. Even Moylsey rattling on about Richard n Judy shagging is better than that. Although it did put me off my first coffee at work and I had to go without lunch. But you can't blame Moyles for that ... In short he's more entertaining in the morning than, say, genital herpes and playing LESS r n b is good.

PS What is a bloody milkshake and what is she doing with it in her back yard ???

I always listen to Chris Moyles on Radio 1. Its the best breakfast show and much better than Hallam FMs offering. Its just great, just listen to it or go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chrismoyles and listen to the show again. its great!
